I bought the 36 sq ft of the Kilmat 80 mil stuff from Am a Zon. I still have plenty of left over (maybe 3/4 of the box) after doing just the back wall. I intended to do the door panels and whatever I had left to cover but haven't yet, not sure if I will. If you just want to cover the back wall like I did, 18 sq ft should be plenty and is about $30.

I was hoping I could remove just the bottom part of the seats. Once the seat is out, is there a way to separate the back from the butts?

On the access cab, yes. In fact you can leave the backrest in place and remove the seat part. There is a plastic trim on the outside ends where the hinges are, remove that and you'll find the bolts to remove and swing the seats out.

On double cab I wouldn't know, probably but I can't confirm it.

There's nothing the back seats of DCs latch onto. Everything is on the seat bottom.
The back can be folded forward in half, then the whole seat can be folded against the back of the front seats.

Started my seat delete. Here’s some progress pictures.

I decided to go with one big pocket rather than 3, though I am considering changing my mind.

Going to to pull the whole thing out again tonight and bed line it.

This may qualify in the top 10 of all 1st posts

Welcome to the forum, what's the end plan here? Will the storage compartments remain accessible? I would take a minute to get some heavy-mil NOICO sound deadening mat off the scAmazon and deaden that back wall before getting too deep into it, it'll make a world of difference in noise reduction now the seats and padding aren't going to be around to mask things.

Meh I decided to just try the sponge and leave the factory material under the ply wood. It’s already as quite or quieter than stock. Will be basically the same lay out as OP when finished. Next layer of ply wood will go on top of that framing forming a small pocket in the back.

I’ll put in a big base with storage pockets in the floor very similar to OP. Main goal is a nice big spot for a dog bed. When off-road my dog slid off the seat and got stuck in the foot space lol.

Isn't that what the ports on the box are for, pup storage?

(I'm kidding, and also have a ~60lb Plott that would never fit)

Getting pretty close to done here. Just sprayed it with bed liner. I might not bother trimming in the top part. I feel like it will just reduce the opening of the pocket I installed that holds my fly rod tubes and my net perfectly.

just gotta finish off the compartment lids.

That would look really sweet, almost OEM+ if you took a roundover bit to the corners! So far, I love this, looks better than what I've seen from others.

You'd be amazed how much you can haul back there without the seat. I don't even like having the seat back there now. Even for hauling groceries it's easier to lay everything on the floor than the seat.

I realize the OEM setup has a jumpseat-style function, but I feel like someone needs to design a fold-down jumpseat for these trucks that nicely trims out/covers the rear wall and folds down to maximize storage. The OEM seats create a ton of bulk and eat space due to the thick bottoms.

I removed mine and used a piece of ABS that I used a heat gun to form to the back wall. Added some poly foam and a fabric cover. Then covered the floor with a rubber mat. Much more room for doggos.
