Finally got the ok for a Supercharger

I do understand Life can throw a curve ball, but Tim said that October was open so I agreed with Monday the 2nd. If your technician is on vacation till Tuesday why did it need to be there at 8.30am specially if nothing is going to be done till Tuesday. I'm 200 miles from them one way,didn't have a problem leaving it and was told Friday pick up and dyno would be done that morning at 900. I'm happy for the tuners new addition but don't schedule work that close to a delivery date.I would have been happy to wait a week or 2 as this is not my daily, just seems like they aren't really thinking about a new customer experience .

 

At this point I wish I had....would have been a Honor and I would proudly wear a Snivs badging,.

 

Another update...Well I'd like to report success but Nasa WE HAVE A PROBLEM, truck starts but stalls after a couple seconds. I was up there for 6 hours before Anyone said something...don't need to vent here should have taken it to Snivs.

 

Sounds like a MAF or other sensor issue possibly.

Did they say what they thought the issue was at least?

 

Jesus dude I am so sorry to hear this. Complete night and day difference from my experience.

 

Along the lines of Snivs thoughts, I’d be taking the Harrop wiring harnesses for the MAF and throttle body out of the equation since they have been known to cause the occasional issue if you get faulty ones out of the box. If it runs with them disconnected then you know it’s probably one or both of them and try each one independently from there.

 

For whatever reason I feel like they have been jerking me around since they got the initial money. I can't believe how pitiful the customer service and lack of communication there has been,thank you guys for your invaluable information I'll pass it on to them today.

 

Just in case anyone heard a extremely loud noise in the Richmond aera yesterday,it wasn't the wine from my Supercharger....it was me.

 

So I called the shop and told them

what you guys had suggested and was told that they had tried that without success anything else you would check it starts then stalls but ran from the lift to the dyno door then stalled and now it won't run

 

Check fuel pressure

 

Air, fuel, spark. Which is really, are sensors working (MAF has been fucked with we know), is it getting fuel (lots of issues with fuel pumps and fuel pressure, not sure what setup you went with), and spark is changing the spark plugs and moving the coil packs but if it started at all that's most likely not an issue.

They should also ideally have adjusted the tune before starting it assuming the intake or the injectors were changed.

Said they flashed a new tune I had a na tune but yes new injectors, pump,spark plugs

 

Really interesting to me shops have such a hard time with this install. It's not difficult at all.

 

When my harness went out, the truck still idled fine. no pedal at all. like it was disconnected from the truck. but it idled fine.

 

@19PlatinumCrew Sorry to hear they are having a hard time with your truck. Your perspective is understandable especially when you have to adjust around pick up times and you dropped major coin to get the project going.

Reach out to Jordan if you are having big issues. If you don't have his number you can call the Wilmington location for him. They may have you talk with the Richmond head honcho if your project rep isn't working out.

I've had slight delays here and there but the project rep needs to be more proactive and communicate with you the customer better. I would let Tim know this as a ground rule and too ask them to be proactive about it so you can adjust schedules. I lit my first project rep up for my initial install which lead to a long conversation with the location manager.

Based on posters here on Tundras and their social media they've put blowers on several Tundras by now not sure what the issue is. Sounds like the shop has had negative turnover with personnel recently. Not sure what the issue is but sometimes things pop up during their initial checks or dyno runs. I had my transmission jizz all over the dyno when it popped a fitting from the thermostat. Was pissed but also grateful it happend on the dyno and not on the highway. Swapped out the part next day and it was all good. Had a delay with powertrax shims too. Possible your recent accident did something you didn't notice initially too.

Baby stuff I let go (not saying you should) cause you can't plan exact dates unless it is induced on their end though I think they still only have one guy, Igor, doing all their tuning which means just about every project schedule slips and creates a total clusterfuck for everything else after that. The big critique is the tuner is a single point of failure for a lot of these works ups from what I can tell. He also travels to Richmond from my limited understanding.

With the pictures I've had them set up the cloud share folder and they'll forget to share it. Time stamps on the photos where older than the folder when they finally shared them. At the end of the day dyno runs were all I cared about. The install pictures and video were a nice touch but I just cared about what was delivered.

Hopefully things change for the better for your project they are definitely not off to a good showing in your case.

 

I had good luck with Sam C. and John R. as project reps. You can always request to transfer to a new rep.

 

Update...after I relayed the information that Sniv,Silver17 and others suggested they finally put a mechanical fuel pressure gage on it said intake leak on the Supercharger on the driver's side bank....what would cause this?

 

I'm thinking your recent accident may have knocked some things loose. Hopefully someone here can help you trouble shoot it.

 

Driver's side bumper corner was hit deer went under truck but they did say intake leak on driver's side ....he'll anything is possible thanks for all the information and support I'm keeping my cards close to my chest until it's completed then we will see how it all pans out, unfortunately now the doubt and trust that it's been done properly is a concern and if something does come up after the fact then what do you do

 

Just got a call from the shop said it was a torn supercharger gasket driver's side and now it is replaced and running

 

At least there is some good news and light at the end of the tunnel. Any idea when you can go pick it up?

 

How did they rip the rubber gasket & not know it immediately? That is just ridiculous.

Another THREE Days Jesus. 2 full weeks for install is beyond crazy to me (I thought my 2.5 days was long)

 

I get the feeling that the quality control may be lacking and you would think a Qualified Tec would have noticed and replaced it immediately

 

I'm just hoping that was the problem and they aren't trying to get it gone,it does make you less than confident. Once all of this behind me I will give you all an update of the events and how it was handled and people can make up their minds if it's an isolated case. I don't usually throw people under the bus we all make mistakes......but come on I think this has been excessive.

 

Stating facts is never throwing under the bus. If you want the facts to show a good light then don't suck.

I wasn't happy with their QC on my initial install when I was throwing a code on the way home since they forgot to attach a hose. Ended up reaching out to Chris from Harrop to troubleshoot since my project rep wasn't any help and didn't escalate my issue.

 

Hate to keep beating this horse but it is amazing to me that WinterWarlock21 can have the exact same thing done a couple weeks before me (Magnuson) by the same tec and customer Suck..sess rep and we have totally different outcomes. Originally I was a little bit upset they scheduled me before the tec was back from vacation but understand they wanted the truck available the next day,so crack and booze was the vacation because it appears he wasn't up to the challenge on Tuesday when he started this
I am shure they make top money as I saw an ad for a tec starting at 6 figures when they opened the Richmond shop.I despise Drama but I think it might get Heated when I pick up my truck......Hopefully this Friday. With the amount of time and miles back and forth to Richmond I would be halfway to Snivs Speed Shop and we all know it would be done right.

 

New update truck going on dyno supposed to be today and he will send a video......we will see
