a bit of madness in the basement. lots of science experiments lately along with lots of corporate requests. fingers crossed the quotes turn into actual invoices.

oof. i just spent the day buried in learning the ins and outs of NDI, OBS and Zoom. thought i had left all the code monkey crap behind me.

anyway, 4 computers, an ipad and an ethernet switch later, i'm able to send IP based video around the home network into OBS and out to Zoom. once it's in OBS, i can crop and customize the output to whatever. so, for my corporate gig next week, i can split a single screen to show the presenter on one side and have the other show the gallery, slide deck or video playback and put the whole thing in a border with corporate colors and logo.

the goal this weekend is to combine that with the Isadora stuff in the screen shot above. if that's in place, i can control the layout of the Zoom gallery and highlight specific people, switch presenters, etc. both pieces are working separately so hopefully the integration won't be so bad.

sometimes i wish i could just shoot and edit...

my wife refuses to come down into the basement now. it's a rat's nest of sdi, hdmi, ethernet, xlr and power cables. last night i got caught in an audio feedback loop that freaked the kids out.
