As the title states, how many have issues filling up at gas stations and hitting pump limits?
Sucks having a 38 gallon tank. I know the chevron stations have a 25gallon limit. Does anyone know a way around to avoid the filling limits? Does getting a gas station credit card raise that limit? Let's hear it!

Never had that problem yet. Most of the time I fill up right around 25 gals or less. But the stations around me have 100gal limits.

    Where are you located?

Most around here are limited by dollars, not gallons.

Filling up a 46 gallon takes two swipes most the time. God bless Costco though.

I'm in CA. I know chevron has a 25 gallon limit here. I believe others might be a $75 limit. Either way, when I'm empty, I hit either limit!

Around here it is 100.00 as well. When diesel was almost 5.00 per gallon, and a 38 gallon tank I would almost not get the tank full with the second swipe. On long trips I would take two 5 gallon Jerry cans, so the second swipe wouldn't even fill everything up if the tank was low.

Not a big deal for me. Swiping a card the second/third time just isn't even worth mentioning. I would rather have the capacity vs stopping every 130-150 miles while towing.

Yep, $100.00 limit here too. 2 card swipes to fill my 46g tank, no big deal.

Doesn't the business get charged per swipe? If so, it's stupid of them to have a limit.

I didn't know that. I used to get gas there exclusively in my old car, but I never had to put that much in. I go to Sam's Club for the Tundra.....way cheaper.

It's to protect them from fraudulent charges. Their insurance only protects so much $.

YES! until you have to fill the tank up... 10 swipes!

Sam's club is same as Costco right? Do they have a limit on their pumps>?

Yeah they're pretty much the same, though they do carry some different stuff, they're a members only "big box store". Not sure on the limit at the pumps, I don't have the xtra large tank. :p
I didn't know that anybody around here had limits on getting gas, but again, I've never had anything that needed that much at one time.

As a gas station owner we have our limits preset to $75 on debit transactions and $100 on credit transactions if your paying at the pump.

You can always come inside the store and pump up to $500 per transaction for debit or credit (register limit).

We do get charged per swipe but the limits are there just in case some crook steals your credit card and starts filling up everyone's tanks. The consumer is covered but we would loose our product and get a chargeback from the credit card companies.

If the credit card company sees several transactions at a gas station which is out of your normal behavior they will put a hold on your card just in case it's been used without your knowledge.

If this has happened to you, trust me...it sucks. On our Discover card it happened 3 times. One time was over 7K.

Only place ive seen a limit is when I earn free gas on my giant eagle card. They stop you at 30 gallons.

Never had an issue around here. I do know when gas was up around $4 a gallon some people were having it shut off around $75 on a debit card, but I usually end up around $65-70 on a fill up.

38 gallon tank + CA gas prices = extra wear and tear on ye olde debit card.

I never let my tank go lower than half, so I have no idea if the gas station on base has a limit.

We'll meet half way. I'll have to stop 20 times to fill up, you'll have to stop 12 but it'll even out in the way home.
