No sir. It's an end table made from a barrel head and barrel staves.

Good luck finding the gold in the states at retail unless you are really good friends with a store owner. Around here it's at least $300 if you can find it.

You are correct in that it can be found overseas much easier than it can here. I've even seen it in the Virgin Islands for less than retail.

Where I live the law is that it can only be sold at retail. It's still just as difficult to find, but when it's available you pay retail. They have a lottery for Pappy's and you can get the Pappy 23 for around $280 when it's available and if you win the drawing. Blanton is available several times a year (the gold, the single barrel, and the special reserve) at retail price.

People complain about Utah liquor laws, but if you understand the system and know how to check the DABC database they can actually work in your favor. That said, we don't get the huge variety here that other states do, although you can order those items through the DABC but it can take months.

The only time I've ever had the gold was this August in Sweden, and we were surprised that it was cheaper there than the single barrel.

I'm curious, have you ever seen elmer t in utah? Dabc says it exists, but I haven't seen it in over 3 months.

Sad to say it's not like that here and some of the best bourbon made comes from an area inside a 50 mile radius. I live inside that 50 mile radius and struggle to find allocated bottles. The wife and I make a trip to Buffalo Trace distillery once a month to get either Weller SR, Eagle Rare, Original Blanton's, or EHT at retail.

Crazy thing is that you can only buy one bottle every 3 months of each label and there is no way of knowing which of those labels will be for sale. We have made the trip and walked away empty handed several times. We don't get too disappointed because the distillery is great to see and the smell is amazing for a bourbon lover. If you every make it to KY, put it on your list of things to do but book your tour long in advance. They are free but book up fast.

I actually spend a good deal of time in Louisville - all of our machine refurbs and half of our support staff work in an office there. I would love to visit the Buffalo Trace distillery, but haven't had the opportunity yet!

I've also spent a ton of time in Florence and Cincinnatti.. Maybe next time I'm out that way we can have some drinks..

I live about 20 miles southeast of Louisville. If you ever get some time in downtown, try Hell or Highwater. It's a speakeasy on Whiskey Row. Unbelievable cocktails.

Let me know next time you're in town and I'd be happy to have a drink with ya.

I'm a huge fan of the Mussel & Burger Bar and Taco Luchador... We used to be right by that Baxter area but have since moved to a larger warehouse location just outside of town. I will check out this bar, I like cocktails.

Town Branch, not bad for 41 bucks, a little sweet with a little heat. The Rebel was marked 119 and I said to the owner, "I can't believe it's up to 119" he offered to see what he could do and gave it to me for 85.

I’m a big fan of all of them.
Their American whiskey is such a good and easy daily drinker. Essentially a bourbon but they use used oak barrels instead of new oak.
I’ve got their American whiskey, bourbon, rye, sour mash, toasted barrel rye, barrel strength rye, and their 10 year single barrel. Safe to say I’m a fan of most of their stuff

Border Beverage is the best store out there. The lady who owns it also owns Discount Liquor. These two stores tend to have the best selection and a huge variety of whiskey and scotch.

Also the Jefferson's Grand Selection Chateau Pichon Baron is some pretty amazing stuff….. it’s pretty hard to come by nowadays…. Some good bourbon I have come to like recently is from a small distillery near Branson MO. The wife and I frequent Big Cedar and a bar tender there turned me on to this hidden gem. The distillery is Cooper Run and their Bourbon is amazing.
