Not Whiskey, but I was tipped off to this particular brand of Cognac. A batch from 1992 (and I got a 1973 version too!). Absolutely incredible. Easily the best ‘yaks I’ve ever had, even though I’ve had some great ones already. Cognac/Armagnac are extremely well priced compared to whiskey at the moment.

If I can’t get Blanton’s or Eagle Rare, then Buffalo Trace is my go to. Angel’s Envy Rye is simply amazing. I don’t have any of that left. 5BDBBC25-E06C-4433-9EEC-0E5793AC06D8.jpg

Do most of you guys just go to regular liquor stores to find some of the more rare stuff? From what I've seen here, places like Woodman's (grocery store chain) seem to have the largest selection even over regular liquor stores, but I never see some of the stuff you guys have. For example I don't think I've seen the Angel's Envy anywhere

A little of everything. I've got a couple smaller local places that I frequent and try build relationships with the owners. Hit Total Wine on their typical delivery days and try to get lucky. For stuff I really want and can't find retail I'll search secondary.

Frys in AZ are running a Buffalo Trace promo. Supposed to be Stagg Jr., Blantons, etc. I was able to find the below. Hoping for some others later in the week.

I like it. Like most Japanese whiskey it tastes closer to a scotch. Well balanced.

I tried Redemption based on the recommendation from the Total Wine dude. It suck. Harsh and no flavor. Only aged 2 years. Not worthy of being called bourbon.

Yeah don’t ever trust a big box store rep unless you know them well. They usually get spiffs on certain brands (the ones they’re pushing)

Not sure if I posted this one and too lazy to check. Haven’t had a bad one from Balcones. Tasty budget American Whiskey.

So I did some research on the Old Forester Birthday Bourbon. Gets released tomorrow 9/2 since it’s the distilleries starter George’s birthday. Well come to find out that NO Idaho liquor stores have it and doesn’t seem they will be getting it. Sad day for me although I’m sure it would be north of $100 for the bottle.
