The 15 is my favorite in the full lineup including the 23. I'm not much of a rye guy but that 13 is the 2nd best rye I've had behind the chief wahoo willet release

I lucked out at a small speak easy bar several years ago and was able to sample all the Pappy's the same way... Wife and I split the 'flight' and tried everything including the 20 and 23. Bar tender was awesome and only charged us $60 for the flight (we tipped him an extra $40), but I had the same assessment as you... To me, the 15 was more complex and had a smoother finish than the 20 and 23 (maybe I'm just not refined enough). I do enjoy ryes at times and enjoyed that as well; ended up buying a few bottles of it before retail pricing got stupid

Same here with ryes, although I found I do enjoy it in an old fashioned. So I had a bottle of Willet Rye I bought just because, and tried it in one a few nights ago and all I got from it was "band aids" taste and smell. Even my fiancé got the same aroma.

    .

As a self proclaimed rye guy I love the pappy 13 rye and willet rye. Never had that chief wahoo release though. For bourbon drinkers that want to try rye I always recommend Peerless rye. Carmel is the dominant profile.

I like Templeton Rye. Used to only be sold in IA but now they have it in SC.

Might want to check the back of the bottle. If you find the stuff actually made in Iowa get it. Most is distilled by MGP in Indiana and is not as good as the home grown stuff.

They have built a new rickhouse and have worked to expand to meet demand and are trying to bring all production back in house.

Try the Midnight Rye, pretty darn good. Or if you find or know a local get the bootleg original from a ditch, that cannot be beat.

I might be alone on this one, but I prefer their 12 over the 14. IMO, it is one of the best bang for buck bottles of scotch you can get.

My first time.. I guess this can be hard to find in some places but they always have it at Lee's in Wendover.

Really nice. Thick mouthfeel. Ripe fruit over that traditional rye Christmas spice on the front end, kind of like butter toffee on the back end. Incredibly pleasant for a 120 proof. Worth the $90. Would recommend.

The Rabbit Hole is one I've been wanting to try for a while, but just recently picked it up.

The Blood Oath was a huge score! Thought the Pact 9 was the best ever, so the Pact 10 has a lot to live up to.

Random liquor store in Grand Junction, Colorado I stopped into on my way back from Denver..

They had a lot of good bottles but anything above this level was very overpriced. It was interesting that these were almost MSRP but any other Weller, Stag, Blanton's, or similar was in some cases up in the $1000 range.

I did. I'm a fan of sherry cask finished scotch/bourbon, so am always on the lookout for a decent one. The Dareringer does not disappoint. Excellent flavor profile and very well balanced. It's an easy sipper since its not high proof. I just wish it had a longer finish. It's good enough that it'll be added to the list of bottles that I always have around.

I pulled the trigger and did the tasting of OFC, Double Eagle and Weller Millennium. It was a great experience. No surprise but the Double Eagle was my favorite of the bunch. The Weller was very good as well but when you take into account how much the bottle cost I don't know that I could say it was worth it.
