I just had the 1924, was very good. Evidently is 10 year old Early Times. Havent seen it to buy. Will keep my eyes open for the Cigar Blend. I have a bottle of Dalmor Cigar blend that is very good.

 

Stupid question but where the hell do I buy a hard to come by bottle that’s never in the stores? I know it’s illegal but I know people do it all the time. I just wish there was a Craigslist for liquor lol.

 

IMO the best answer to this is for you to build relationships with liqour store proprietors. Nowadays most keep their small allocations in back rooms and out of their normal stock and only sell them to a people who ask for them and regular customers. Other times you just get lucky and see it on the shelf somewhere. It really depends on your state liquor laws and your general want of getting into this crazy scene. But man o man a good sippin' bourbon is sure hard to beat.

Got an email alerting me this Rye bottle was still available so I gave it a shot. It is similar to the Wheated but more spice.

There are all kinds of online resellers. Frootbat is popular, but you can also join local Bourbon clubs, or on Facebook, etc.

Bad time of year to find a bottle without paying a huge surplus..

 

I’ve never seen the bottle in any of our stores locally is the main issue. It’s just one I always look for but never find any time of year. Same with EH Taylors

 

The MWND release is around November. You can get them from the HW distillery in Park City around that time for retail cost ($125). Kind of a trip for you from CDA, but maybe an option if you can't source one before then.

Honestly I would be happy to grab one and hold it for you if you are still looking toward the end of the year.

You can also order directly from the distiller online (if they ship to your state depending on your state's import laws); looks like you can purchase up to (6) bottles that way at MSRP

 

I would take you up on that for sure. I have some family in Boise so maybe I could make something work. I'll keep any eye out and keep talking with the two good state liquor stores that actually bring in some decent bourbon for now...

Unfortunately no one ships to Idaho except friends lol. Thanks for the heads up though.

 

Local shop has them, but $200. Would be happy to pick one up for you and arrange shipment, but it is marked up. Most of the Safeways had some around here but they were still $160 and gone now.

That's mostly MGP. Not bad, but there are as good or better for under $80.... Look at Rabbit Hole and Angels Envy.... Even Sagamore is as good.

 

I’ve had a few Angels Envy and not a fan for some reason. A buddy brought over some Sagamore and I really enjoyed it which surprised me so I keep an eye out for that as well. I’ll grab some rabbit hole next time I see it as well. Appreciate the feedback

 

I can pick this up for $188, any input on this price and what are your thoughts on the liquid itself?

 

I haven't had it but reviews I've seen are positive. I've seen it for more than double the price you are seeing. I would pick it up at that price.

 

I have only had a few of the EC releases I really like, the rest of their stuff doesn't so anything for me. I may splurge.
