    Today's haul. Couldn't resist the Yamazaki since I already had both the Hibiki and the Hakushu in the cabinet. The MM is a wild card as they didn't publish the stave profile like they do with our State releases, but after reading the reviews on it thought it might be worth a try. Grabbed the Blanton's for my Brother-in-law.

    To date, I have never bought a bottle of Weller Antique or Special Reserve over retail.

    I also haven't bought a bottle for about 6 months.. I used to get the Antique easily, and the Special Reserve even more easily. One of the liquor stores just over the border would post on Instagram when they got some in, and I would call and pay over the phone before making the 90 minute drive (so I guess I did pay in gas and time). They stopped doing this though, and now have an annual auction. I guess the good part is that the proceeds over retail go to a local youth organization.

    I've also never paid more than retail for a bottle of Blanton's and I've had a bunch!

    They also offer a loyalty program. So the more you buy the more points you accumulate. Then you get better chances for allocated bottles.

    The bottle on the left is the second from the same store- barrel etc, (so good) what a difference. The one on the right exhibits the usual characteristics I expect from a WT product, grassy with a little nuttiness and if it were my first bottle I wouldn't buy a second, single barrel effect.
