My father passed away 12 years ago. I'll be cooking up some ribeyes for my stepfather and I. Im secretly hoping my stepdaughter makes me a card lol. I've been her fill in father for over 8 years. She dogged mom on Mother's Day and didn't do squat for her. I was pissed but kept it to myself. Her mother is an amazing woman and goes above and beyond for that kid. Don't get me wrong she's a great kid in most aspects for a typical teenager and I understand that kids really don't appreciate how good they have it compared to others. But it is nice to get a little recognition now again. It's not that I care so much about a card it's more that she thought enough to make us one. A hug and I love you is great but I don't think she understands that that'll make a big man even like me choke up inside when I know my kid appreciates me.

I'll be setting up and stocking my fireworks tent. Start tomorrow putting all the tables and shelving up, Sunday will be stocking. Inspections on Monday and open on Tuesday. Then sometime next week, I am expecting my first to be born.

I'm just south of St. Louis area. Tents can officially open in Missouri on June 20th. Lot of hours, but it did make my payments on my truck for the past year.

I'm just a manager so I don't have any risk in it. I just get a percentage of the profits. Been working for the same company for about 20 years now. Started working at one of their tents when I was 14, worked at tents until I was in college and started working at their warehouse in the summer loading the trucks for all of their locations. Kept going back to the warehouse in the summers because I am a teacher and could use the extra money in summer. Finally got tired of it and decided I was done, took a year off the just happened to see one of my old bosses at the gas station and he asked me if I wanted to manage a stand been doing it the last 4 years. They take care of everything, tent, permits, tables, shelving, product. All I have to do is find workers and handle the money. At the end of the summer, I get a check.

I hate painting, but I'm also too cheap to pay someone else to do it. I'm currently finishing my basement, hopefully while I'm working at the fireworks tent, I'll have it drywalled and then I'll be painting it as soon as the tent closes. Fortunately I'll be painting it before the trim is on and the drop sealing goes on so there won't be any cutting in that needs to be done.

that is my exact situation! I wasn't about to pay some company 3g's or more to paint our house. To make it even harder i did it by brush and roller. The main color is done and so is the accent color. Only thing left is trim, overhangs of the roof(going trim color) and maybe some touch up later this summer. I bought the paint on sale for 30% off at Sherwin Williams last year. so all together for supplies i am in it $800. I went with their Super Paint thats why it was so much. Time wise.... with pressure washing the house last summer and the amount of hours into it so far i am way over 100 hours. maybe closer to 150 if i include replacing some small sections of siding and add in my brother, and wife and friends hours.
That being said I may never paint the outside of a house again or if i do i am charging some serious $$$. Good luck with your basement. I did this to buy us 5-7 years so that we can get ready for a new roof and new siding....and a for sale sign. Or at that point we decide we are never moving and just do a complete reno here and stay......and by we I mean I hire someone to do it for me.

Came home after work today and my wife came out and said, " Hi Honey, the fridge died." F$%#!!! So, I've tested the muthaboard and the depressor. Looks like the perverter board failed, again. This would be the 2nd time in 2 yrs. When we get a new fridge (black Friday ?) it won't be another GE.

    Happy Fathers Day!

My step son and daughter in law gave me a care package from Omaha Steaks... along with a heart felt message on the package about how I helped his mom through some tough times this year... greatly appreciated and crocodile tears... she raised two wonderful kids... and the daughter in law is top notch... I'm a lucky man...

Well, she came a day early. Baby and Mom are healthy, and I made sure we have the Tundra at the hospital so the kid's first experience with a vehicle is in the Tundra.
