Yeah, I'm hoping my TRD package on the 1794 will make up the difference. I'm not a boulder-crawling insane offroading type, so it should hopefully handle just about everything else. Fingers crossed. I've already missed having the hill descent control, but I can live without it.

    hi Shadowfax
    Great rig
I went from 4r to Ram PU and now looking at 2016, 2017 1794s
the 17 has the trd package
is it worthwhile to shoot for this trim as its more $ and a 300;mile trip to the vehicle?
did you particularly look for this in a 1794?thanks for your insights

I tend to favor luxuries on the inside of my cars. But I was actually all set to buy a 2016 Limited with 47k miles for sale in the mid 40ks. The dealer GM was driving the 1794 and brought it back in just in time for me to look at it before buying.

It was an easy sell for me despite being $10+k more expensive, because the 1794 had half as many miles (25k), was two years newer (2018), had the TRD Pro package, was certified and warrantied by Toyota, and turned out far more comfortable with a lot of nice features like the cooled seats and much nicer leather. Far more comfortable. The limited would have been a great truck (and easily $130+ cheaper every month). But it was a big difference and those other factors were important to me.

Would I have driven 300 miles to get it, passing all kinds of other Tundras for sale along the way? Hard to say, but probably, both for the car and because in this market I felt lucky to even have any choices.

if you like nice things plus the hard core capability of the tundra platform, you’ll really like the 1794.

Bear in mind I just sold my 14 year old 4Runner with 201k miles for more than 5k over blue book. Most dealers had no inventory of anything I wanted, new or used. This is a total sellers market so I would be willing to drive far to get what I wanted if needed.
