In 2007, when I lived on Midway Atoll (Battle of Midway), I was One of 25 residents (total population 65) that had dinner with, and toured the Bush family around the island, including the commander of the Pacific fleet. Pretty nice folks.

Oh, I forgot I met some Indy race car drivers when I was a kid. Back with the Molson Indy came to Vancouver, BC in 1998 my parents got us pit passes. We got to meet some of the drivers and their crews, sit in the cars, check out the pits etc.

I was only 9 years old but the three that stand out were Michael Andretti, his father Mario Andretti, Paul Tracy and Greg Moore. Moore was killed in a crash the next year.

I had autographs from all of them on each of their promo posters. Being a 9 year old kid, naturally they were tacked to my bedroom wall and destroyed over the years. I'd love to have those back and framed now.

 

As Jim LE says, you get to meet so many as a LEO, trying to remember, some of these I know personally for other reasons.

Met a bunch of Senior PGA players like Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Mccord when I was in college and working at a country club that hosted. ChiChi Rodriguez and I hung out for hours in the bar after everyone else went home and just bullshitted. He is a pretty funny guy. When all the players are around and he speaks up, everyone shuts up to listen for the joke.

Grew up down the street and went to church with Brian Shaw (worlds strongest man).

 

When I was a test pilot / flight instructor for a hovercraft manufacturer I met with Jimmy Connors & Ilie Năstase, I also taught Olympic gold medalist Rowdy Gaines how to fly the craft.

 

I got to meet Stan Lee after hours at Comic-Con

I also watched Dwayne Johnson play football in high school.

 

R. Lee Ermey, had to have been at least 14 years ago. Was at a local 'antique' militaria store that used to exist in north Burbank, picking up my Remington 03A3 and he was sitting there in the chair at the counter next to me. We started talking (great guy) and he asked me what I 'was gonna do with that darn rifle'. And I said "anything made for the greatest generation... I am happy to own." "Damn Straight" or similar was his response. He may have been looking for props there, they had plenty. I bought quite a few rifles there. The shop, and he, are long gone...

My birthday is this Saturday and my wife and I were going to watch the SST race in Long Beach. She messaged him on Insta (without me knowing) and said I'm bummed out because I was looking forward to that race, he asked for my number. He called to wish me an early happy birthday!

We've stumbled across a lot of celebrities because we're in LA all the time, but that's the first time one has decided to reach out to us. Definitely made my day.

I knew what you meant. LOL That reminds me - I did get to meet David Eddings in real life too, once. He tended to come off as a douche, but in his case, it wasn't because he was intentionally being or trying to be one. He made it pretty clear that he wrote books because HE wanted to. David was doing the whole "I'm gonna piss off my readers" thing long before George R. R. Martin ever was. LOL

The gate operator was mad as hell!

 

Yeah it wasn't happy!! He asked how he could help and since he had the gloves and I don't do snakes, as I reversed the gears he pulled the snake out. Took some pics and made sure everything was good with the operators and I left. He and his wife are very nice!

 

I'm picturing, "flamboyant" gate operator bent over "Don't worry about how it got there just pull it out!"...
