I just ordered the first set of new tires for the Tundra. 275-65r18 Falkin Wildpeak AT3 116t SL. Any one running the SL loads? If so what tire pressures are you running? Just match the door sticker?

I might be going with the same tire when my original michelins are worn. I was assuming to start with 40 like I run now. Same size and ply/load rating but I guess there are other factors too. Let's see pictures when you get them installed

Going on oem or aftermarket wheels?

I run 2 psi higher then the door jam. I had these tires twice on my 2nd gen and loved them so much I swapped them out on my basically new 3rd gen.

I did the chalk test on all four of them in a local school parking lot that is as level as I could find.

All tires have a great contact patch with a full tank of fuel and me and a loaded car seat in it.

Are those the SL 116t or the E 123s?

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
I am running the E 123 Falken Wildpeaks currently. I run the front and rear at 30 PSI. Never had any issues.

They look great on your truck!

I just started running the 275/55R20 Wildpeaks with a 117 load rating.

Like @biebs96 I run 1-2psi higher than the door jam. (31/34 for F/R respectively); give it a little room to come down on cold mornings.

I'm also curious where others run (doorjam or customize).

I love the look and ride so far!

You know how often you haul weight. If i was empty most often with those tires i would run 40 front and 35 rear, see how it rides/do a chalk test

Questions why are you guys running low psi in the back tires??? Isn't that where you want more psi for towing or load on the bed trunk??? I have a 2020 pro 275/70/18 falken wildpeak at3w and im running 38 in the front and 40 in the rear.

If you aren’t towing or hauling right now, you don’t need the pressure in the back. The weight balance is towards the front.

you may find that 38 is a little low for an r rated front tire. I keep my front p rated Between 42-45 even unloaded.

I have been running closer to 50 in mine which is always loaded for work, has a shell and Bed Slide too.

I experimented with lower pressure when I got the tires and 48 or so is where I prefer them especially for 1000 mile + drives which I have been making even now during the 'Rona.

To carry the same load, E rated should have more psi in them than P rated. Yes e rated can also carry more weight total, and handle even higher pressure than the rest of the truck can handle

Has anyone experienced any random shimmy/ steering wheel vibration from incorrect tire pressure?

Asking for my neighbor who just went up in load rating, and said he has random shake occasionally, and never at the same speed.

I did verify with him and the tires are balanced and the trucks alignment is all within spec per print out.

I suggested maybe his tires are under inflated.. no other ideas honestly...

So I am guessing he moved up to E load? E load tires on a Tundra do not ride as well as the stock standard load tires on our trucks. They vibrate more, sometimes feel a little off like what you friend describes, sometimes a little darty. E load are designed for heavy duty trucks, not half ton pickups. That said, I run them as well because I had to move up to E load to get the size I wanted. There are trade offs.

Now a perfect tire for a Tundra would be a C load, and if they made C load tires in sizes I would want to run on 18inch rims, they would be on my truck!

Appreciate the response. And of course I have recently gone from stock size to 285/75/18 which are obviously E rated and didn’t notice much... until my neighbor mentioned his 275/70/18 acting as I described.

Now of course I am paying extra attention to how my truck drives :monocle:

Also as a side note (and thread jack) anyone have opinions on 285/75/18 tire psi for our trucks?

I am assuming this was pointed at me?
Mine are not E rated but standard Metric in the stock size for my truck.
These are rated for a Max Pressure of 51psi and like I said mine ride better at near this than at 10 or more less pressure based on my experimenting with my load and ride itself.

They are not better if I have an empty uncovered bed and if that was how I rolled I would also run lower pressures most of the time.

No for zizyang. I keep playing with my SL as well. Toyotas recommendation for SL is just plain silly. These trucks are so heavy im getting flat contact patch on the front even at max psi
