Looking for a 2 season tire ( winter-mud ) . My truck doesn’t see any serious off road use .
Basically ,if it goes offroad , it’s pastures ,or woods trails towing a trailer (7k dump) . On the road ,the tires need to handle snow ,slush ,and be fairly decent in ice .
I’m looking at the above tires in 275-65-18 . I don’t really want the LT sizes either because of the additional weight . But, would consider them for the additional tread depth and sidewall toughness . Opinions ,experience on these tires ,or other options appreciated .

My dad has the AT3Ws on his 02 Tundra. they do really well in the snow and wet. I'm very impressed with them.

I just bought some AT3W's on discount tire direct for $180/tire with free shipping. I bought those because they are good in rain and snow (according to reviews). It is an LT tire I believe...so that may not be what you are looking for...I think that you can order a smaller size that is not LT...give discount tire direct a call

On falkens site they have this one in red which I don't think is LT. I would call Discount Tire Direct to confirm it though.

depending on the size, they make both an LT and a P rated tire. although, if towing I'd recommend the LT rated tire.

I believe in tires that you get what you pay for. Falkens are cheap tires for a reason. Maybe just advertising but after some of the tires I have owned I would not take a chance on them. I would stick with the Coopers.

Maybe you are right, but on tacoma world they rave about them. @brimy311 from Victory 4x4 said that they are great as well. I will try them out and report back eventually...only time will tell.

Pretty happy with the Falken’s. Awesome on wet roads. I’m under 5k miles.

Been pleased with the snow performance of my Cooper AT3 4S tires. Wasn’t happy at first with puncture resistance but I think it was just bad luck. The grip of these is FANTASTIC!

I had both on my ‘15 Ram 1500. Both were great the first winter but the coopers had to be replaced before the next winter. Falcons wear better, work in the snow the same and look better...when my Michelin’s wear out on my Tundra I’m replacing with the AT3 Falcons!!

Don’t be scared off because of the lower price on the Falcons. I have four buddies that purchased them after they saw mine and they swear by them also.

I'm running Falken AT3's in 285/75R18 on my pro since Nov. They have been great tires so far and work quite well in the snow.

I had the wildpeaks at3w on my 4runner. They are by far the best truck tires I have ever owned. We are going to be putting them on our truck now. We are actually going figuring out our tires based on what sizes they have available. We had them in snow, mud, sand, rain, rocks, highway and ice. It was incredible how confident these tires are.

I have the Falkens 275/65/20 on my truck. They have seen plenty of ice snow and slush this winter so far here in Missouri and they have performed flawlessly! Great tires. They are not loud on the highway either. I was looking at both the Coopers and these when I bought these and the guy at Discount Tire thought these were better tires as well. They are a 10 ply so they are going to be tough!! I really am glad I went with the Wildpeaks!!

Thanks for the advice ! For those of you running the LT rated Wild Peaks . . . Does the additional weight of the tires have any really appreciable difference over the OEM tires as far as ride , braking ,handling ,etc ? Pretty positive that the Wild Peaks are my best choice . Just want to be sure of my choice of load index on the two tires available in the size I want . Again , thanks for you all’s patience ,and advice .

I have had the Falcon Wild Peak AT3 on my Wrangler and handled wet roads really well. When it was time for new tires, I got the Cooper ATW and regretted it. They didnt handle anywhere near as good as the Falcons. The Falcons also handled snow with now issues the few times that I had to drive in it.

No neg impact here either. They really handle well for an aggressive looking tire.

Aggressive looking is as far as I would go. Looked at the Falkens today on Discount website. I would not call them an aggressive tire but tight tread does look like it would be good in snow but suck in mud. Mud and rocks are my main concerns. I an going to go with the new Goidyears or ST Maxx.

Two different tread design/applications. MTs and ATs. I purchased ATs (much more practical for me and most people).

I don't know about you, but these AT3s look aggressive to me. Buy what you want and "BE HAPPY!!""

I just put falkens on my maple sap collecting truck. It's a 95 Chevy 1500 w/t 2wd witb 30k miles on the clock, actually they replaced the original tires lol. So far so good, they are quiet, have done well in light snow, ice, and mud. Especially for a 2wd truck. They are 15 inch wheels and I just couldn't beat the price on these.

Yeah they are AT's not MT's. All I know is that they fit the bill for my application and they are quiet on the highway and handle very nice. Work well in the snow and slush along with the rain.

I’ve been running the Wildpeaks for about 10k and they kick ass. Great in the snow and the tread wear is excellent. Like them much more then the KO2’s I ran on my 3rd gen Tacoma

The manager at my local Discount Tire said he steers people away from the Falkens because they havent worn well from what he’s seen.
Take it for what it worth. I have no personal experience.

It's funny, at the Discount Tire we go to they steered me towards them. The guy I was talking to had a lot of customers that have them and no complaints. I've had mine for about a year, 7300 miles, no complaints and they have worn great, and we have towed our trailer quite a bit last summer with them on. Funny how people's opinions are all over the place.

I have no experience with them personally.
You’re right though, you could ask ten different people and get 12 different opinions.
I’ll be interested to see opinions when people run them for a long time. That will tell a lot.

When it comes to tires you have to match yours needs and it is normally a compromise. My main concern is mud followed by rocky cactus, covered terrain. An open tread pattern suits my needs best. If I did not run a lot of hwy it would be MTs hands down. Falkens to me are low end of the scale for an aggressive tire. The tighter tread pattern will perform better on the hwy and in snow and ice that tires I am looking at. Tighter tread pattern is also better on sand. I ventured on to a beach once with my Buckshot mudders and dug some nice looking holes.
