Fake v8 Sound Can Be Disabled

Update: I was able to have all 5 seat belt chimes turned off, and my windows down from fob added, however the tech said he could not find a setting that allowed windows down without sunroof either opening or tilting… so for now it tilts…

he also stated that there was no “windows up from fob” option for mine, so maybe it doesn’t exist or at least not for double cabs or certain trims?

lastly, he confirmed that my truck does not have the fake engine sound, so that also seems to be a CM only deal…

 

I honestly think a random Tundra revving to the song would sound better...even a '22

 

Tell him to look here(see image below) and set position #3(highlighted) to OFF.
This prevents the sunroof from either sliding or opening with wireless remote.

I don't see this option in TS ver16 or ver17 for my truck as well (Platinum crewcab).

 

I’ll mention it next time I’m in, but we will see if they know what’s what… might end up just buying the cord and downloading the software myself…

hey @Ride123ca are you able to get to this setting with Carista that @99ways2die posted in regards to keeping the sunroof closed when turning on the windows down key fob function?

 

JMO,,, do not know why Toyota would even do such a thing. For the money that is being paid for these trucks it just seems to cheapen up the vehicle with such nonsense! Sorry had to get on the soapbox!!

 

Unrelated but yet related, what is the setting to turn off the automatic parking brake feature when the drivers door is open? I off road a lot and I had my door open to spot a line and I unclicked my seat belt to lean out a little more and the truck slammed on the parking brake automatically. It almost launched me from the truck. I understand, and accept, that having my seat belt off with the door open isn’t the safest thing but having the truck decide to stop without my input isn’t either when you don’t expect it.

The first time I back the truck up in my own driveway I hit my head on the effin A-pillar, for the same reason!
I was as surprised as you when I learned that opening the door while backing up makes the truck slam on the brakes.
I back up to the neighbors yard, and often (well, used to) open the door to look back and make sure I don't put my tires on the grass; same applies to the boat ramp, or while camping.

I do not see any option in TechStream which applies to this condition.
If anyone has any clue on how to disable this "feature" I (and many others, I assume) will be greatful.

Do the mirrors auto tilt down in reverse? I was just in my friend's "truck" this week and it had this feature. I say "truck" because it's a Ridgeline. That would help with seeing in reverse without needing to open the door.

 

They do as long as the mirror selector is turned to the left mirror and transmission is in reverse.

 

Plenty of situations where looking with my own eyes trumps camera view.
Is that sharp rock really too close for comfort?
Am I 1" away from running over my neighbor's sloth?

Haha agreed. To ask about cameras means you’ve never bouldered in the truck where an inch is a mile.

My truck goes in soon for its axel bolts, new diff and transfer case recall items and the lead tech is a cool guy who is willing to access the features menu for me. But I’m disappointed to learn it looks like it’s not a feature in the menu

 

Had the 2 recalls done this morning and while there had them delete the fake engine noise…now I MISS IT!

Yeah, the truck is just as fast but that roar was comforting when you punched the accelerator to get around someone. Think twice before you do it!

 

Damn! Orders the carista to disable the engine noise and just read here it’s not in there. Last Friday I had my first (very early 3k) oil change done and recall checked into- the tech didn’t do any of the tech stream stuff I had requested, was there for 3.5 hrs and they wanted to keep it for another 40 min to change the settings so had to bounce.

 

Also does it with the right mirror if the selector is turned to R.

 

I barely notice the sound honestly. I’ve fired so many rounds in my day, and been around so many pro-charged or turbo LS’s, nail guns still daily, and a noisy ass Cummins; Aside from actual hearing damage, I’m just immune overall.

 

How do you configure in TS the screaming 6 for my 5.7 ?

It lowers both mirrors in either L or R on the selector. At least my truck does.

 

Carista app lets you disable it

 

You don’t want to disable ANC though. That’s active noise cancelling and will make the cabin quieter.

Hey Dex, does that app/reader let you turn on “Windows Down w/ Fob” WITHOUT including sunroof?

I know it’s an option in Techstream, but my dealer couldn’t figure it out…
