I bet if you wrote Hilux on the side of your tundra there would be people that would believe it.

its all in the DNA or VIN of the car. decals and surgery wont do it. it can be called whatever you want but come trade in time the dealers know its just an invent-a-pro sr5 or a platinum or whatever trim

Matter of fact my boy want to get some Hilux stickers for slowest color Tacoma. I like the idea because of nostalgia. But we all know it's a Tacoma.

On my old Dodge ram, for fun I put on the police interceptor badge on the lower left side of the tailgate. I had many people ask me if this was an option to get the police interceptor model. I once got a parking ticket it said dodge police interceptor. LMFAO it worked!! I got it from cop buddy of mine.

That's what I like about going to Panama, they have both Hilux usually diesel and Tacomas are gas. And some folks mod both.

Yeah, seems like everyone and their dog has the pro grille. Kinda takes away some of the exclusivity of the actual pro.

It’s almost as bad as all these 2018 posers running around with led headlights...

Your truck wasn’t built this year, you aren’t allowed to have those!

    The nerve.

Then Toyota should stop with the 600 pounds of chrome on the other models. You would think they would know but then again maybe they are enjoying selling all of these Pro grills.

    This.
They should offer more black out / color match options from the dealer!!
Mine was a TSS package (gulf coast regional package) with black running boards and blacked out badges. I really like the look... except for all the damn chrome! (Grille & bumper ends)
Ida stuck with the stock setup much longer if it was color matched. The honeycomb grille is a step in the right direction IMO

In all seriousness the guys with the Pros should be flattered. We try to make ours look like theirs cause they look badass. That heritage grill looks old-school like and that's what appealed to me...that and color matched to get rid of chrome, and that grill was on an SR5 first! But at the end of the day, my Vin says SR5 and the pros will be the pros.

I had a guy bitch me out for putting TRD Pro stuff on my truck like I couldn't unless I purchased the whole package. Said that I was trying to fool people. I'm pretty sure if someone can pick up that I have the TRD Pro grille, headlights, and dual exhaust they can also pick out the TRD 4x4 sticker on the back 1/4 panel to know it's not a pro. If I wanted a pro I would have bought one, but those seats just would not work for me. Sat in them for about 3 minutes and knew 100% I would be going for cloth seats.

If you end up building a rig better than Pro then have @DecalsByDesign make a PROBEATER decal for your bedside. Only the ones who complain and whine will understand that bedside decal, not the general public.

Come on guys, life is too short. Have people do whatever the hell they want as long as they are not affecting you.

That guy was just a prick. No offense to anybody who owns a pro, but the pro is very expensive but very aesthetically pleasing. Why not buy a different trim level and add on the parts that you prefer. Especially if you’re going to go big on the suspension. I understand Sometimes you buy a vehicle like the pro and find it has its limitations and then upgrade. But they charge you an arm and a leg for that suspension, that stamp and TRD pro interior. I came up on somebody’s used pro suspension for a good deal. So I bought it. I also like the pro grill but kept the chrome surround so that I could be different. That’s what I like and I don’t give a shit if anyone doesn’t like it. To each their own. You do you brother!

Also a lot of guys that own pros end up selling some of the stuff off the truck. Why not capitalize on that?

    Shit.

I put a rear TRD swaybar on last week.. that's on the TRD Sport package.. i guess I better take it off and send it back..

As others have said, as long as you aren't trying to sell it as a Pro I think it's fine. Customize your truck however you want. At the end of the day, anyone can check the VIN and know what it was originally sold as.

    :rofl::rofl:
Dick! To be honest a piece of me wanted to do the surround and bulge. But I didn’t want to pay extra for the bulge. I ended up selling my original grille and white surround and made some money back. Looking back if I had to do it again I probably would’ve just held onto the surround and waited to buy the bulge. It doesn’t look too bad on a white truck though.
