Thats what I plan to do with it. Im averaging less than 10k miles per year so it should still be in good shape in 10 years.

I paid $49k for my used 2021 1794 Edition with 42k miles on it in 2023. It's paid off now, and it's been tempting to trade it in on the new Landcruiser. But, I just really love the truck.

Visited a Toyota dealer today, looked at and drove a '21 SR5 Crewmax 4x4. 46,300 miles. They are stuck on their asking price of $39,600. They tried to tell me that was trade-in value. Then tried to tell me my '23 Tacoma SR V6 DC 4x4 was only worth $28,000 at trade.
KBB tells me their Tundra has a trade in of $31,000 and my Tacoma is also $31,000

A local dealer offered me 20k for my 14 SR5 4x4. 39,600 seems steep however and I doubt that is the trade value. But like everyone has stated above these V8 seem to hold value.

price is not totally out of line for the 21 from what I'm seeing provided it's been taken care of and has no accidents, but it's on the higher end for sure.

I got My no accident 2020 double cab which was certified for 35.5k plus tnt about 2 weeks ago. These last few low
Mileage v8s are gonna hold their value because people like us want that power and reliability vs the new stuff.

I think The best way to look at value is to look at carmax values. They dc's on there for 36 or so. But they don't last long. And cm for 40.

Little older, but I bought my 17 Limited a year ago for 35K with about 32k miles on it. Never getting rid of this one.

I just went and looked at a 96 Camry at a dealer near me. It was a manual, and non-of the stuff I hate, nice leather interior supposedly. $5995. I shit you not, cracked windshield, needs a total repaint of hood, dead battery and the previous owners crap left in the car. "as is" he says.

Okay call me when it's 1k or less.

Dealers can be silly, you might have to work a little to find a reasonable one. Maybe look at non-toyota for a cheaper price too, the other brands aren't usually as much of a "I know what I have" experience one toyotas comparatively.

I think 2nd gens would hold their value even if the 3rd gens didn't have a 100k-truck engine recall.

Toyota trucks and body-on-frame SUVs just hold their value, regardless of how much people say the new generation blows the old one away. I think it's always been the case for 4Runners, Tacos, Sequoias, Land Cruisers, Tundras. The only exceptions I can think of are the trucks that had rotted frames that weren't replaced under recall. But clean specimens still hold their value.

Agreed, though it certainly seems that the rate of depreciation has reduced even more than before.

Agree - but I think it’s hard to distinguish if that’s issues with 3rd gen or just inflation…

both but it's more than that- it's simple demand

it's not just the issues with the 3rd gen. Many (seems like a lot) folks just don't want all the new stuff. Less is more. I was One of those.

if I could Have found a 6.0 2500 gm of the right vintage, condition and mileage I would Have bought it. A reliable truck and CHEAP and easy to work on comparably. A really nice one can fetch a lot of money.

It worked out for me. Id rather stay in the truck I have had for 8 years and is paid off than have a crazy expensive bank note. Just more $$ for upgrades now!

So the salesman texted me this morning. I told him they were way out of line with the pricing. So he took screen shots of what his manager used which was the KBB "Instant Cash Offer" ($28,000) for my Tacoma, Then he used the JD Powers used car guide as what the trade in value was of their Tundra ($39,000). LOL! Apples and Oranges.
I said if we both used KBB Trade In Value as our guide, they are almost identical at $31,500 ea.
Then he said he would be losing money to sell below their asking price. I said you made a bad deal taking that Tundra in as a trade, then.
I texted the salesman and told him he was a good guy and he should find another dealership where he wouldn't be forced to lie to customers. I mean the truck was okay but nothing special. Can't believe how they tried to scr*w me over.

I bought out my 21' with 27k miles on it for 34k after my lease. Makes me wonder what I would have had to pay to get it now. SR5 sport package.

My 2020 Plat 4x4 was listed at 45K in Jan 2022 and I broke my rule and paid the asking price. I thought I got screwed on the deal, but we needed a vehicle at the time and everything else was about 5K higher everywhere I looked.

The last week or two I was trying to find a 4x4 Sequoia MY 18-22 to potentially replace my wife's 2WD Sequoia and they are literally non-existent in 250 mile radius of me.

I purchased my 21 sr5 crewmax brand new in July 21. Have 29k miles on it and the dealer that I bought from sends me random offers to buy it back. So they can sell me the newer tundra. Last offer for this month was $37k. One of my coworker sold his 2022 f150 fx4 crew cab with 32k miles to the ford dealer for $37k and they put it on sale on their website for $43k same day. I don't know where are you located and purchasing but I live in mid GA in Warner robins and I believe they can drop that price down I would discuss to lower it down little bit more.
