They're already priced pretty reasonably. See attached.

I re-read my email. He states they do used gears with good results that were from an incorrect depth setup. They did a bunch of gears from recalled 2014 Ford GT's that were noisy. As we know nothing is 100% but still a decent option.

So, aside from machining investment, it's my understanding from my previous link that most OEM lap their gears before install, which is why you can be just run them. Aside from that, what I've learned from essentially everything aftermarket is that better is never perfect, and this includes the decades of regearing across every type of platform. Noise happens when focused on performance, with a lesser focus on who can/will/cares about gear whine. Find perfection if you can, but based on my research over the years, there no guaranteed way to get silence. Some are fortunate, some aren't, some may simply never know (or care)

A lot of oem companies have major $$ invested in their tooling and some shot peen as it is done pretty quickly. I was pretty close in my 2nd setup and maybe could of knocked off another thou or 2. Some gears just require more time than someone is willing to do. For what I paid I wasn't expecting perfection. But the whine I got is right at where the majority of my driving is. The first time was at 55mph reduced pinion depth by another .006 and was good for 500 miles. Maybe I burned a spot the resonates at the frequency of 57mph? Ill get it sorted out and recheck preload.

I just give you kudos for tackling it yourself. Even with the polishing I kind of knew going into it that going 5.29s of any brand carries some risk of making the rear noisier. I’m hoping the polishing helps reduce the likelihood of extra noise.

Was looking at Revolution and they have a complete package for like $1800. I'm assuming they charge extra for the super polishing.

    Sunex 57BS5 1/2 -9 inch
    OTC 1130 1/2-9 inch
Vevor carrier and pinion bearing puller

I used the sunex but you have to be careful as you can damage the bearing cage.
The otc is a top quality splitter.
The vevor seems good for not damaging the cage.

Or can I just use the sunex one for all of it?

I just listed 3 options for the bearings. The sunex can do the carrier bearings. You just have to get creative creating the needed space to press the carrier out. Do it after you remove the ring. Don't want to damage it. The otc and sunex need to be tightened up after it starts moving. There is little purchase on the bearing and check that the bearing spins freely after the first few presses.
I didn't have a strong enough power torque driver to use the vevor one. It looked Ike it would fit the carrier bearings.

Is it worth buying a spare carrier and have it regeard? I found a local one for pretty cheap just not sure what to look for and see if it would work for my truck.

If it's a good deal. They demand top dollar in certain areas. Looks to be an 2009 and you'll most likely replace bearings and seals.

I believe group 33 is 10.5. The number under the scan code is the same iteration of the numbers above. Does he have the Vin code to see if its 4.10 or 4.30.

Happy to report no issues with axle splines fitting into the powertrax today. Slid right in, no hammering necessary.

What seems to be the consensus on gear oil viscosity for the Speedmaster? Anything 140 weight just seems way too thick for winter climates.

I might be scheduling an install soon, along with some 4.88's...

I did the break in with 80/90 conventional and now have 85/140. The first person to do it broke his in with 140w but has been running 80/90 and he stated it locks up.
From what I gather is the preload relies on the friction from the thicker viscosity to hook up quicker. Same thing with powertrax and people running synthetic with friction modifiers. It lessens the lock up but it still happens. From my conversation with a tech at speedmaster their lsd's were made for the racing/offroad crowd, where quick lock ups were need needed. It has been operating very well and is pretty predictable how it responds throttle input.
