Awesome... Thanks for the confirmation, toyota must just be discouraging dealers from advertising that they can do it vs. actually stopping it

If anyone wants the contact info for the Toyota dealer that has those prices let me know. And yea, I’m not sure it would be totally legal to prevent it but I believe they were discouraging it. Probably the dealers crying they weren’t able to screw everyone that sat at the finance table.

    You
My dealer AutoNation tries to push it up your rear. They advertise likes it’s official Toyota but it’s really an Autonation warranty. Not to mention the prices are a joke. The deals on vehicles are damn good though.

I got a 10 year 120,000 mile extended warranty from my credit union - $900. I've never used it, hope I never have to. It covers everything, bumper to bumper.

Ah, Wilsonville. I think you mean "no bull" prices . I went to Beaverton Toyota a few years back and looked at a Highlander for my wife and when they told me the price posted was THE price, I didn't know what to say... Maybe that business model works for some folks who don't like to negotiate, which I totally understand, but I feel like I'm getting screwed if I don't talk 'em down.

Maybe when I'm older it won't be worth it to deal with all the dealer haggling BS for $1k or so...

Maybe for the most part. I got my Tundra for about $1500 less than what both Beaverton and Wilsonville had as their "one price" after only an hour of negotiating. It was the last day of the month at the end of the day, so that may have helped...

I use to work at a dealership in the early 90's....we could buy vehicles at 10% above invoice

I'm not sure I buy it's a myth. I know dealerships get bonuses by volume, and at the end of the month if they've already hit their mark and are "in the money" and are accruing bonuses for each vehicle sold I would think they're more apt to make a good deal than earlier in the month. Sure, you may be able to get that deal on the first day of the month, but you're probably gonna have to work a lot harder.

Power train warranty is not anything close to the platinum bumper to bumper.
I have no doubt the engine and tranny will go 100,000 without issue. I want coverage for all the electronics and other high dollar stuff.

I've only bought an extended warranty once in my life....when I bought the vehicle prior to my Tundra....a used 05 Titan Truck....and bought it from the dealership I use to work at back in the late 80's....and my good friend is the finance manager.I got the extended warranty for a lot less than the average Joe would pay.....glad I bought it...cause the left axle shaft took a shit....then the tranny 5 months later....only reason I paid for the extended warranty is because I was buying a used vehicle...as far as bumper to bumper.. .ya...good peace of mind

Do you all know if I can get a better price for the Platinum Toyota warranty?

My dealer wants $1,800.00 6 year 125,000 mile Toyota Platinum

    Can I do better elsewhere?

    Thanks,

My Credit Union has a third party extended warranty. While it's cheaper, theirs doesn't cover everything the TFS Platinum one does. I found another Toyota dealer who sold the Platinum one cheaper than my local dealer.
The other extended warranty might be good, but I didn't want to deal with a third party. Just read the fine print whichever you choose especially how they able payment or if you are reimbursed.

    Thanks guys for your input.

I shopped 5 dealerships in the greater Cleveland Akron area and I’m going with a local Toyota dealership not with the one I purchased the Tundra from.

The Toyota Platinum makes more sense for me. I’ve found a Toyota dealer that will do the 6 year 125,000 for $1,634.00 out the door (tax included)

My 08 Tundra had the air pumps fail twice and I had them covered under a Toyota warranty. As you know those alone were a few grand to replace. The factory radio is even $1,500 bucks.

I read the fine print and I intend on keeping my 2017 for at least 7 years.

    Thanks for your input
