We don't smog check every year or even every other year up here in Northern Sonoma County. CARB smog check requirement line stops just south of Healdsburg on the 101.

They’re some counties in CA that don’t require smog checks. My parents live in Calavars county and don’t have to get smog checks.

Oh dear mother of Odin, we need to get rid of the nanny state, I can see the next thing will be telling you the proper and ecological way to shit and there will be routine inspections of your crapper to make sure it's up to fart code....

"Fuel tank hangs down about one inch below the lowest part of the frame rail" would this not require a skid shield or some kind of protection?

I think the tank is known to cause cancer in Commufornia.

I asked my smog guy about the differences in smog requirements between the counties and he said some cities in CA even have higher standards than others. Here in San Diego County, rural cities like Borrego Springs have very different standards than we do out by the coast. It all comes down to population density. You gotta pay to play I guess.

well this was an interesting read up to this point....

the 38 gal swap isn't that expensive, I paid roughly 1500$ for everything, shop around have toyota price match online retailers of the gas tank.

sorry but TF tank is heavy as hell compared to stock 38 gal. and install isn't that difficult

    here is an install thread

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/07-14-38-gallon-tank-swap-install-thread.27144/

but hey it's your $ and if your just a street queen and weight doesn't matter, TF might be your great option. But lower ground clearance, additionally 100lbs over factory tank and it's not a toyota part made me do the 38 gal swap. And for those in cali like myself, TF wasnt an easy or doable option.

I know we all hate the small tank issues, that's why I installed one and did an install thread with part numbers to make it easier for others

Yep pretty much. Up here in Northern Sonoma County I don't have to smog at all, neither do the coastal towns. California Air Resources Board smog check requirements stop at my city. Those poor people who do have to smog in my county have to do it every other year. So yay! No guns, no plastic straws, no plastic bags, we're gonna charge you $.15 for a paper bag, no standard capacity magazines, no ammo without a background check, and no extra capacity fuel tanks! Yay!!! The communists... They're everywhere... I'm behind enemy lines too living in IL. And I actually lived my childhood under communism, so I'm not happy with what is going on in this country of ours. My old country calls it socialism now, but reality is that they are the same people that just switched coats of the same color.

Because the tank mfg hasn't paid the exorbitant extortion money to CARB to be able to sell their product here, because it's part of the smog system, after all.... I so can't wait to leave this state for good.

I'm very aware of your smog exempt status up there and admire ya for it....unfortunately, we still have other asinine laws that you too are saddled with.

Two trips for me pain in the a$$! Two cards don't seem to work or I'm in to big of a rush and don't let the pump reset.

TBD... getting info to kick start the fun!
For 2016 tundras, and please correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that the fuel pump is part of the tank.

Does anyone know if the transferflow upgraded tank comes with a new integrated fuel pump or does it use the one from the old tank?

    Thanks!

I am wondering if a custom tank for a 2007 Tundra can be made. I can use the fuel tank and spare tire space (relocated) and maybe get much more than 46 gallons? Anyone have thoughts on this? I pull a trailer and my wife is handicapped so I do not need to make extra stops just for fuel. Thanks
