    Bingo! Wina wina chicken dinner.
Just sucks because the 40 gallener has to pay $1000's in testing to be passed as a 50 state legal equipment. Just another way Cali rips $$ from other states. Chit, even its own state for that matter. Stupid state.

If one installs the Transferflow tank, is CA the only state where he may have problems? I'm in OK and doubt they have any EPA regulations that affect me. Wouldn't want to encounter problems upon resale.

ARE YOU GUYS KIDDING ME? the reason why tundras have tiny babydick gas tanks is because California forced us to have smaller tanks? This has got to be some kind of sick joke, I know California is anti gun and crazy but damn, I wish I knew this so I could have bought a tundra in Nevada or Oregon.

I come from a 2004 GMC sierra Duramax that had a 600 mile range and my tundra with the 260 is like 350 miles tops, I'm getting 15.2 mpg with 75% freeway/city. My diesel gets about 18mpg avg and it has a 27gal tank but I can make it to vegas on one tank from sacramento.

The main reason I cant put a transfer flow tank is because I use my tundra to haul my quad and work related stuff, I need all the bed room I can get

You are looking at this backwards. Toyota put puny fuel tanks in some years on some models because of stupid design, weight, and cost cutting. Same tank weather you bought that truck in California, Florida or Maine. The problem is that we can fix this stupid design shortcoming in every state EXCEPT California with the Transfer Flow after market tank. Hope this helps you understand the situation.

The TF is a replacement tank, not a bed tank.

And for the rest, it will pass sniff test on CA smog, but not visual.

is there a larger tank capacity offered in California on higher end trim like limited or platinum? my friend just bought a 1794 edition il have to call and ask him, but I swear I saw a 38gal tank option available.

I've got about a good year and 15k on my 2016, might take it up to 30-40k and trade her in for a higher package and get crewcab this time instead of double, the sr5 is nice but really want some more options, I don't have even have a damn power seat!

SMH I knew it....argh. I put 60-80 miles a day on my sr5 and I'm at the gas station topping off with a 20 every single day. I used to just gas up my diesel once a week. Plus my friend has a 1000g red diesel tank that he tops the homies off with for the cheap price haha....

WHEN WILL TUNDRA BE A DIESEL.....my money is patiently waiting. Although I do love the 5.7 it has way more grunt and nice exhaust tone than the chevy 5.3s and the ford turbo v6s...

Why not just put a custom skid plate under your 4 x 4 truck and kill two birds with one stone? There are tons of trucks with the bottom skidded up.

    - offers some additional underside protection where the tank is located
    - visually impairs the area

@Fly'n Family are you suggesting a transferflow after market tank AND a skidplate?

Yes I want 46 gallons in one fill. Yes I live in Cali. Yes they will pop me for having this awesome tank. Till Transfer Flow gets there CARB legality's out of the way on this tank Cali won't let you have this and pass a visual during smog.

"But Jason, how would they ever know you have an aftermarket larger tank?"

Well lets see, its no longer plastic so being a metal tank posses questions to the Smog Stations.
It is notably larger and hangs a tad below the frame of the Tundra.
The Tag on the Tank most likely say's not CARB legal to keep them from getting sued therefore Cali won't ok it to be mounted to your vehicle as the vehicles replacement gas tank.

Pictures pulled from Google search but essentially from Tundra threads....

LibertySand, I definitely don't wanna argue with you but I lived in CA for 26 years before moving to WA state. Not once did I get any crap on a visual; in fact, in my neck of the woods [Ventura County] they never even poked their heads under any of my trucks. I guess things are different in other areas but  whatever.

When did you leave? The last 5 years the BAR has been cracking down on smog stations for NOT performing visuals. To the extent of parking across the street with video cameras and hefty fines.

Too funny. When I lived in San Diego I had to do smog every 2 years. Moved to El Centro, still CA, and no smog. 17 years w no regular smog test, just upon 1st registering vehicle. Now I'm in AZ, won't ever move back to CA. It's nice living in America again. And I can walk into a store and walk out w a firearm.

Things got worst after you left then.
Yuup, one of my favorite guys to get vehicles to pass smog got popped similar to this. The last time I went to smog my Suzuki Sidekick, it wouldn't even pass visual because some hoses "looked dry" and had some small visual cracks! Air lines, with small tiny cracks by the clamps. So ya, I'm a bit hesitant to buy a $1,500 gas tank that may or may not pass inspection at a Smog Shop.

The US distributor for this LRA tank is based out of CA, but the tank is made in AU. It may be available for install in CA for CA residents. On the LRA website, it only says that it is for 2014 CC models. Here is the website again is case ya'll didn't check out the thread link:

there have been a couple people who have done it. Depending on the year of your truck, you will need to install a new crossmember to support the front of the tank.

Also, buying parts from Toyota is expensive. If you can find a used tank, that would be the way to go.

I have a transferflow. Was installed by previous owner when new up in Canada. Hurts to fill up but is abosultly needed with 12 MPG and Supercharged, and driving at least 60 miles a day. Not the best image. I just wish the DTE was accurate!
