I do not outright reject EVs but am not ready to entertain owning one with no ICE vehicle as a backup and don’t know when I will be. Call it “energy source diversification.” If we go more wind and solar and ditch fossils and end up with an unreliable unicorn fart powered grid I do not want it to restrict my ability to drive my family’s main do everything/go everywhere vehicle on top of the other problems it will cause me.

My F150 is the hybrid and I like that technology and was happy to invest my money in it to help move it forward. But that’s all I’m ready for at this point.

    We are simpatico.

Our Model S Plaid was for fun. We are in NO WAY saving money. maybe gas money. but the entry fee is huge.

I do like the technology of the TESLA tho'. it is light years ahead of any big auto maker. and nothing beats it from a dig. nothing.

Yep! I threw on some Abstract Ocean mud flaps shortly after buying the car. These tires fling debris like no other and there is a painted surface exposed in the wheel arches - I'd suggest getting some for your M3P when it arrives.

Yeah, they do the job for $60. Install is super easy - a couple plastic push pins and 3M double sided tape for the front and very similar for the rear. Took me all of 5 minutes to install. The Tesla OEM's are $40, but they look smaller with less coverage.

EDIT: DO NOT BUY THESE. They will scratch your paint - see pictures in the post below.

Yea I imagine buying a Tesla S Plaid to save money is like buying a Lamborghini as a family car lol

Obviously you can buy a Tesla to save in some way, but more a normal model 3 or regular s if spendy lol probably not a Plaid haha

I looked into a 3 row Model Y. My kids are young enough the 3rd row will make sense for at least 5 more years. But I'd be spending 65k to save 7k in fuel and to get a tax rebate of exactly 0 from the state of Tennessee. For reference, California offers an $800 tax rebate. For only the year in which you purchase the car, I believe.

It would be fun to drive for sure. But at this point, if you're buying to save money, the best way that makes sense is a high efficiency (45mpg+) used hybrid.

Can confirm the 3 Performance hauls ass.

I just wish it just looked like the S...then it would be as close to perfect as perfect gets.

Yea I think the save money thing depends on the kind of vehicle you would have if not buying an ev. In my wife's case we would be spending comparable money anyway (she has a lexus and when replaced we would be paying model 3 money anyway) . She wouldn't be in the econo-box market anyway. So in that case we could save some money on gas at likely a break even purchase price.

    similar here...kinda.

we replaced a 2011 LS460L...never had a problem with that ride (in-laws have it now).

we thought the S was a fun replacement...but the Model S back seats are only for semi-avg humans. young folks & flat-bellies are OK.
NOTHING compares to the rear seat of an L series LS460.

oh...and we saved $217 last month on gas per the Tesla app....LOL.

how much is an ICE car that can do 0-60 in 3.1sec?

and which cars are those?....it would be a short, VERY expensive list.

    see...you're saving money.

Shittt good luck with thousands. It would take tens of thousands to get there. My 84 c10 is quick and it was a pretty penny on an ls swap. It's nowhere near that.

Looks like I'm pulling mine off during lunch to inspect. Might just go OEM Tesla if the current ones are rubbing my clearcoat.

Wellllllllll shoot. Your worry was accurate. All four mud flaps marred my clearcoat. I rescind my comments earlier - do not buy these, they will eat your paint. Luckily it is not horrible, I think a light polish will remedy 75% of the damage. Going to be reaching out to Abstract Ocean to see what they plan on doing about it.

How all four corners looked when I pulled them off:
    1.jpg

How all four corners looked after I cleaned up the dirt, sand and debris (this one was the worst and actually chipped paint at the bottom:mad:):

In the dump is where these belong....:

I can't imagine what they would've looked like after 50,000 miles. Probably would be down to bare metal. Thank you for the heads up on this! I feel like an idiot...should've seen that coming from a mile away.

Just ordered OEM Tesla flaps, I'll post them up when I get them on. I do like the rokblokz (they look better), but I'd rather have an OEM part for less $$$$.

Eh what you dont know, you dont know. I would have not known better either besides asking for those who may have experience with them. I have also been checking on Teslamotorsclub.com to see what others are using.
