I stand corrected...our Gov threw millions at these EV companies....this being one of them.

    and it still failed.

and no, you won't get your money back.

    same Solyndra song, 2nd verse......

Everyone knows (the U.S. Government and auto makers) how much effort and money it would take to match what Elon has done in the last 15 years with charging infrastructure. If you can't beat em', join em'.

If you thought Elon was wealthy now. Just wait until every EV is using his network and he has StarLink providing internet to half of the world. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I took a recent off road trip to Baja with 14 trucks. 6 of them had Starlink. These weren't slowverlanders, these were built prerunners.

We use Starlink at our office as backup to our Fiber.

The Port of Houston area has a wonderful habit of losing power.

we use the same RV model & only pay as we use it.

To beat a dead horse a bit
More, once again the feds hate Elon for what he's done to twitter and have probably been looking at ways to hassle him. But the tighter his grip gets on charging for all EV manufacturers in this age when the things are being pushed so aggressively, the more he has the US government's nuts in a vise. For things he grants, he probably has a built in clause to be able to take back. All those customers will get addicted to his charging system and then he can pull the rug out at any time if something rubs him wrong.

agreed. he will also reap the benefit of all that user data.

Our Gov has to be pissed that the free market beat out billion $ subsidies.

but let's face it...if the Tesla chargers are only utilized by 4% on avg. (recent data) and Tesla sells ~70% of the EV's

it won't make that much of an impact...maybe non tesla EV's will travel out further (vacation, roadtrips, etc)

then, when the see how flawlessly the Superchargers work, why not just own a Tesla?

the free market does not & will not celebrate mediocrity.

Makes you wonder how well-known innovators from from the past (Edison, Nikola Tesla, Bell) would be treated today

My family uses StarLink at our cabin in the middle of nowhere Northern, WI. Works so damn well! Runs at 100-150Mbps.

Years ago when we ran power into the place (was generator powered for many years), we also ran fiber. The internet provider could only provide 5Mbps service. 5! You can't load an email with that....or do just about anything. They were charging $75/ month for the service - pathetic!

You can't beat Elon! Unless you want a cyber truck...or a roadster :boink:

    More good points.

This segment looks like a money loser for most manufacturers right now. With what they're paying him he can lay the groundwork to gobble up any market share that gets ceded back to him if/when any
Major companies call it quits on this segment.

see, that right there....all the EV's are supported by Gov subsidies.

I truly desire to see them stand on their own....or fail.

I think in that scenario we find out it's a near impossibility to consistently succeed at both the ICE and EV business at the same time and it's a market best left to companies that only do EVs. They can further the R&D and technical advancement needed to broaden their appeal without having to keep an ICE division going at the same time. At which point legacy automakers have to make the choice to either go all in or walk away but not sit there with one cheek on the lid and one cheek off.

From what I've read Edison was more businessman than innovator and a pretty big douche. Nikola was the opposite from what little I've read about it.

My dual motor non-performance 3 cost more than that when I bought it (2019). No regrets and I do indeed wish I got the performance version.

I first looked at the MYLR and wanted to add the wheels and boost. Then I realized it’s same price as MYP. Only thing I don’t like about the MYP is the staggered big wheels

We've been looking at Highlanders and 4R but when they cost the same or more than a new MYLR, ya gotta take a serious look! :D
