I realize I say this every time....

this guy ran 7 runs. low 6's in the 1/8th

what ICE car can do 7 runs in a night? at those times? EVERY weekend. with ZERO failures.

what other EV can do that?

just amazing. We take sh1t like that for granted.

4%...I never thought about that number. I'd like to see utilization @ peak times.

Lots of people hating on Musk for taking over Twitter and taking it in a new direction have been hoping he'd implode on all fronts but it sounds like he will be laughing his ass off at all of them in the end.

I have been at more than one dining room table where people who never created a job in their lives said that idiot has no clue what he's doing and is going to bankrupt himself. Turns out maybe the dude has a little bit of a knack for making money, and sees angles a couple of 6 figure wage earning suburbanites who craft their take by reading about what he does in op eds might not spot.

    Who knew.

agreed. also his motivations are different. taking on crazy challenges appears to be his drug of choice (even over all the other self-admitted recreational drugs he's taken)

Also I remain a hard no on anything purely electric but am highly curious to see how this all plays out. Based on the Ford financial results for EVs I could easily see a scenario unfold where the Big 3 contribute to Musks's Empire trying to make this work for another couple years. Then when the political climate changes and they decide it's no longer practical to keep trying to compete in the EV market they hand the entire thing or most of it back to him After having giving him All those resources and income.

I'd find it hilarious it it worked out that way.

    I'll play this out....

All the $'s will go to related parties, the $ will get incinerated, Zero progress will be made. the initiative will be scrapped.

all those related parties will get rich.

Can you imagine the UAW in charge of EV Batteries?

    Solyndra 2.0

Telsa (free market) will ultimately prevail. Even with the Gov trying to hamstring them at every turn.

Tesla is nimble and not afraid to take risks. They hound their suppliers for the lowest cost possible. And if things aren’t working out they drop said supplier and move on.

Big 3 OEMs refuse to be nimble and refuse to change up a supply chain. So they rely on government subsidies to make a profit. This will ultimately lead to Tesla providing EV tech to the industry. Anytime the government gets involved you know it’s not going to work

Ford separated out the financial results of the failing ev division and I think they did it to create a paper trail to make the case for a bailout if they go bankrupt while this is playing out. Basically tell the government "you pushed us to do this and it dragged us down, so you bail us out."

I get a sense that underneath the eager flooding of the market with new EVs manufacturers don't think they'll succeed and are just doing what's necessary to make the government happy for now.

I know people say the battery tech will get better but I am just still not sure we get to a point where they see enough of a return for it to be worth investing in rolling out those improvement before The market moves away from these things.

EVs won't disappear but I'm not sold on the idea that's where everything's going.

    good thoughts.

I'll add....EV's are good for commuting(and whooping up on Porsche 911 Turbo S's)...not truck stuff.

    GM/Ford essentially only make trucks.

    it's just not gonna work.

they don't have the tech or the ability to maneuver in the market quickly.

I'm eager to see the cybertruck & it's abilities. it will probably serve as a commuter with a truck bed. or at least, that's who will buy it.

The thing is, “truck stuff” for 90% of pickups is commuting within 50 miles of your home to get groceries, dropping off the kids at school and running errands. These EV trucks could replace a vast majority of peoples current trucks without issue. Everyone is complaining that the EV trucks aren’t trucky enough. But they don’t use their current truck to do truck things.

    People just like to b*tch!

There's still no serious discussion about the health effects of being in an EV or hybrid vehicle.

These biochemical physical bodies of ours creates an EMF field. It's a natural side effect of the electric current that makes our bodies work.

All vehicles have their EMF fields as well. Hybrid and EV significantly more so.

Basic electrical theory shows you that an EMF field induces an electric current.

Since people aren't causing malfunctions in their vehicles, the EMF from the vehicles has to be affecting us.

But the industry, like most industries pushing their wares, pretend it doesn't exist.

you have a point that the soccer dad truck buyers will benefit greatly from an EV truck. The weekend warriors and other not so much. We will probably see them shift into owning a HD. I would absolutely love to get a nice commuter car that gets 300miles of range. Then use my ICE truck for truck things. Problem is I can't justify $50K commuter car. So the HD truck will have to pull double duty for now
