Have y'all ever seen inside a Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 295/30-21?

It has a 6" strip of open cell dense white foam - about an inch thick - going the circumference of the inner tire.

is this to mitigate road noise?

or is it there to prevent time travel >88mph?

and apparently hard for Discount Tire to source. still back ordered

Perelli PZero's are the only avail tires out there. Luckily, they have a neat bead that protect the rim.

you know, when you SCRAPE it on the curb getting the mail.

I am also one of the few with a Tundra/EV garage. I have to say, I finally feel like I found the 2 car setup I've been searching for years to find. The Tundra is great for the weekend excursions (road trips, cabin, camping, trailer hauling, heavy lifting, etc.) and the Model 3 Performance is a monster of a daily. You don't realize how much time you spend at the gas station on a weekly basis in an ICE vehicle. The modern tech is also really nice for a daily. I couldn't have imagined how fun an EV would be to drive on the daily, it has impressed me so far. I am a car guy and I had a lot of explaining to do to my buddies when I pulled the trigger on the Tesla. A few parking lot power slides in track mode opened their eyes to the EV world. Not a Tesla guy by any means, I certainly think the company/cars have their flaws and I wouldn't defend them to the death, but I felt like the Model 3 was the best bang for the buck when I was purchasing (ordered the M3P early Oct. 21', received on Nov 1st 21'.). I think that will change pretty quickly, the industry is catching Tesla and there will be plenty of EV options in the near future. If I could have my cake and eat it too, a Rivian R1S or a Model S Plaid and the Tundra would be a killer combo. It's hard to imagine going back to a ICE for a daily after experiencing EV for last 6 months!

A rare sight - two clean vehicles at the same time:

    Yes and no!

I live in a town house with a tight 2 car stall. My wife and I manage to fit her Telluride and my M3P with enough room to barely get our doors open. But they are covered and the garage stays decently warm (35-40 degrees - snow always melts off the cars) all winter, so I can't complain.

Pictured above is the warehouse at my office which is no longer used for business. The boss keeps his toys (boats and jetskis) tucked away during the winter in there. I'm the only one who keeps it clean and organized so I get to store some goodies as a reward. Very fortunate to have a roof over the Tundie and a place to turn wrenches!

Congrats! You'll enjoy it and it'll be worth the wait.

It's the best exterior color in my opinion. I wanted to go with a white interior, but my OCD would be chasing every mark on the white seats. I had to save my sanity and go black!

That is priceless. We don't have a heated garage, so winter bites for working on the toys.

I have the 18’ M3 LR, duals black/black but I want more power and newer with the bom box, double pane front windows, track mode, etc.
i already sold it (well, this coming Monday) so it’ll be a one vehicle household until it comes in. Can’t wait!

You'll have plenty of power! It pulls just as hard as any crotch rocket I've ever owned and it has airbags, so that's nice hahaha!

Also, how has your 2018 Model 3 held up thus far? Anything break? Any mechanical issues? Ever leave you stranded?

Some things that I've noticed and concern me after 6 months in:

    1) The "leather" looks a little wrinkly on the driver seat bottom bolster. I'm 5'11 - 180lbs, so not a large person. The material is certainly not wearing, but its not perfectly smooth when it was brand brand new.

    2) Screen. It can be a little buggy at times. It sometimes goes black right when you get in and reboot. Sometimes the cameras don't pull up and they constantly load when going in reverse. This is my biggest worry honestly. As you know, the screen controls every. single. input.

    3) Damn phone key. Pull on the door latch and nothing. Phone isn't connected to the car even though I just used the app within 2 minutes (and no, I never exit the app, it's always running in the background). I refuse to give Tesla another $200 for a physical key that should have come with the $65K car in the first place.

    4) Paint quality. It seems to be lacking. Weird overspray in weird places. Gets loves marks/swirls very easily. Chips easily.

This isn't my forever car, I don't think I'll own it out of warranty, but just generally curious on your experience with an earlier M3. My 21' seems to be bolted together a hell of a lot better than some of the horror stories I've read.

Ya i test drove it a few months back, but of course they had track mode locked down so I wasn’t able to let it rip around in drift to test it

I’ve only had it about a year and now has 34k on it. No issues. I do believe they need to add the new boot cover as I can (randomly) hear it squeak as the original design called for it as grease can escape. I know that was an issue and it should be taken care of tmrw, free of charge.

I have experienced the BT phone issue at seldom, and same with the camera losing. I did read an article the other day that the OTA update will correct the camera loading.

Did they give you keycards? I have two but I’m not sure if the previous owner had purchased ir. My current one also has Homelink, and I’ll to pay for that when this one fire as I don’t believe you can transfer it

On your paint, are you using touch-less? Hopefully the 22’ will be well put together

Overall, that is good to hear that it has treated you well.

My BT likes to disconnect every once and while as well. Gotta love over the air updates, they can fix any software kinks at any time!

I do have key cards, so I'm never locked out per say, just a first world problem annoyance!

Admittedly, no, not 100% touchless. I am very embarrassed that I admitted that tbh. I used to wash everything by hand for every wash for every vehicle I owned. But life is short and I spent way to much time washing cars, so I run it through touch washes (I know, I know :eek2::eek:). When I do hand wash, I noticed that I can swirl the paint very quickly if I am going after a specific area/water spot, etc. I would say I'm a weekend warrior detailer. I like washing cars and keeping stuff clean, so certainly not inexperienced in the detailing world.

I’ve been using touchless. Each time I washed the tundra, it would be 2-3 hours! I feel your pain

Whatever this forum told me to do
    I’ll slide in

the model s has only had one non wife induced issue

the ac cooling failed. The juice leaked out. It was fixed in 2 hours

presently the wife says it gets very bassy occasionally. As if the auto noise canceling is faulting. But it has yet to happen to any other human in our family

it has been a true hoot to own

right at 4000 miles so far

    simply brutal acceleration
