Took the Tundra on a trip last week to see family 670 miles away. I started the trip with a full tank and stopped exactly once for fuel. Let the wife and kids out to order some awful fast food. Filled up and was waiting on them to walk out with said food in hand. 15 min total.

I did make another 2min stop on the side of the road with flashers on so one kid could pee.

We can make an 11+ hr trip in less than 10.

According to Tesla.com, same trip would take 13:45 in a MYLR, supercharging several times along the interstate.

I’d still like one, but not for cross country trips.

Ever drive by something that stinks and need to find the recirculate button in a hurry? Wife has owned a Tesla Model X and BMW iX. I see no benefit in moving HVAC on to a screen.

and...that is what is so awesome about the Tundra. 38 gallons.

hwy driving...I can easily go 500 miles before the light comes on.

our situation for a Tesla is ideal.
as most of our travels are on the I-10 corridor.
Which has Buccee's* & numerous other Tesla superchargers.

if you are in middle America or mountainous regions...forgetaboutit.

*Buccee's is the best place to re-charge...hands down.
by the time you finish waltzing around the place, looking for your watermelon flavored C4 & chili-lime pork rinds, the car is charged up.

Not paying extra for basics that should come in it to start. Not adding aftermarket electric to any vehicle.

I recognize the aftermarket is shoring up the lacking items, but that should signal Tesla they are missing basics in the car.

Aftermarket should be for stuff like sliders, audio insanity, or sleeping arrangements; not for basic and common controls.

Whatever this forum told me to do
just shouting down the Tesla well:

Yesterday we had to run to the lake (~90 miles one way) and come back in the same day.
hunker down for the freeze. put fancy fox tails in the garage & other stupid shit.

    we took the MX.

we left with 254 "miles" (80% charge) in the tank.

    got there with 138 "miles".

plugged it in as soon as we got there...48amp charge rate.

it put ~35 "miles" into the tank by the time we loaded up to leave. 1 hour.

got home with 105 "miles" in the tank.

    not bad.

    Consider:

The Tundra would have devoured 11 gallons of Premium. ~$32. 17mpg

The MX fuel cost was about $11. ~51 mpg....based on costs*.

    or...We avg'd 290 wh/mile.....which in 116 mpg.

*I like to use cost as the denominator....it better represents the cost per mile.

the MS would avg ~320 wh/mile...MX is probably not as sleek...so it get ~290 wh/mile

How do you get 17 mpg with your Tundra? I never seem to get better than 13-14...

I'm in IL so most everything is "down there" LOL.

I usually can get 16/18 in summer, but 12/14 in winter months. Being single digits up to freezing doesn't help either.

    I'm speaking as an observer...not a scientist:

my truck gets the best mileage between 65-75 degrees.

it's easy for me to push 20mpg in that temp zone.

in Houston, it's rare we are in that zone.

down here we have dense humidity...which I hypothesize as the culprit...the air gets too thick when it gets cold.

since I can monitor manifold air pressure (boost), I can watch how well(efficient) the engine is functioning.

or maybe I'm sore bored, I watch stupid engine mileage variable shit.
