Even if it provides enough power to make towing not impact your range, it's absurd. If towing halves your range and this restored the lost half of the range, but costs $250K it's still too expensive. Add the same range extension to a trailer for an ICE vehicle along the same parameters (doubles the fuel capacity) and the price is going to be several zeroes less expensive.

You're being way to logical. The EV truck market demand is not high, but they still make them and they have price tags that easily break the 6 figure mark. That's a really small amount of people that can afford them, but they keep cranking them out for the yootoob twats, virtue signaling hypocrites, and drag race wannabes. Logic isn't the biggest factor in the EV market. Lots of clout to be had.

price? careful there. ICE truck are the same price or higher - when you compare specs.

 

Cybertruck has a tow capacity of 11,000 lbs and a price of $80K. Half tons can beat that rating at a lower price. No EV truck will match towing range of the same load with an ICE truck in the same price range. Also keep in mind that ICE truck MSRPs are generally negotiable, but the Teslas are not. Can you spend more on an ICE over the Cybertruck, yes, but you will also outclass it in tow performance if you do (3/4 or 1 tons).

 

It has a decent sized battery pack and the axel has a motor that drives/pushes. Waaaay too much $$ tho

$80K.... absolutely insane to me. At that price they should come with all the options that tesla charges for on the Model 3. FSD, supercharger, and anything else. There have been too many fit and finish issues and the single screen with no dash and no buttons knocks these solidly out of competition with the Luxury cars they'd have to compete with at that price, or the trucks that can tow long ranges way easier.

The model 3 is the only one that makes sense price wise, and even then it only does if the tax credit exists and you buy used.

Purely my opinion.

 

They should so long as they are under 80K, thus the price selection by Tesla. The tax rebates on EVs may be ended in the upcoming administration, though.
