I do love the home link. The S will also memorize the roads you take to raise / lower suspension. I wish mine had that

the custom light shows are fun too. People can’t believe it!

    That, I do not know.

May I also add, even in my M3, I can still gap many vehicles out there. Especially in the first 0-60

As a motor head, I truly want to dislike tesla vehicles; however, they outperform just about every vehicle.

    it’s brutal

    Is the m3 straight 6. Or v8?

As I have not ventured into that menu

is it true we can bias the power to just the rear wheels?

    This i don’t doubt.

Super random question that I’ve thought about a bit:
If you had to do a 1000 mile off-road race with equally spaced gas/charging stations and had the choice of a Rivian or Land Cruiser, which would you chose? Loser pays consequences.. you can choose

Obviously the LC wins in that situation. The charging is not as quick as refueling. Will need solid state batteries to even get close, just not there yet. Also the rivian is not proven.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
Here's some more bells and curves, what is the Difference insuring them annually?

E-vehicle insurance is a super unspoken of 'detail' in ownership, so what gives?

Gotta believe insurance on any car that goes 0-60 in 2.1 is sky high..

I just don’t like the idea of going off-road with something that I potentially wouldn’t be able to fix. But maybe with time the know-how on how to work on them will catch up

I forget, but for me it wasn’t drastic. We also have homeowners and life insurance with them. I also live in a decent area, which may be part of that.

    V8 LC every time.

    refueling is the shortfall.

edit - the rivian is hard to find level 3 chargers - unlike the Tesla. so, much slower charging for the rivian.

    agreed.

    not blaming them at all.

Supply chain issue. (will not go political, will not go political)

They are abundant now that the containers are on shore.

Tesla was VERY nice & would have gladly trailered the car to my house for free - but it was already at home.

how long before they can augment the Rivian software to make it drive like a tank.

    i.e. spin in a circle.

Oh I got confused cuz you quoted my reply about a race between the Rivian and LC. And...I would hope tank mode would be part of the package right from the start.

my fault - I'm halfway adept at forum posting.

    I'll re-clarify my LC/Rivian stance.

if it was a slow lumbering offroad trek - AND charging was avail, much like the LC needs a gas station - why would these 2 differ?

the new land cruiser is just as unproven (wastegate) as the new Rivian.

I like the Rivian - it simply needs some time in the market to see how it holds up. the TFL videos convinced me it was bonafide.

Well my thought process was since it's a race and charging is not near as fast as filling a gas tank at this time, the LC would have a huge advantage on time with every fuel/recharge stop. I just threw the reliability thing out there since the Rivian is a completely new vehicle from a brand new company. The wastegate thing as far as I know, on the LC, is random at best as there are 1000's of them that are just fine.

Well, let's say Tesla and Rivian have very similar vehicles with the same battery. If Tesla reports the range from 20-80% and Rivian reports the range from 0-100% charge, which vehicle are consumers going to flock to (all other aspects being equal)?

this is a weird one...both report range @ 100%. HOWEVER you can't use the 100%. fear/anxiety sets in around 20%.

imagine the Hummer EV...it takes TWICE the charge time for similar range.

but I would choose the Tesla - the motors are from another galaxy.

Many have gone to 0% and still made it. They being said, if you get to zero when there are thousands of chargers, and Tesla even gives you ample warning with step by step directions how to get to the next SC…that’s ignorance. Similar to an ICE vehicle

right on...you are quite stupid if you run it to Zero.

Tesla is awesome when you reach your bottom threshold. We had it set to 30%, and early in our ownership when we did not have a home charger yet...the car asked us..wanna navigate to the Webster Supercharger? why, yes....yes I do.
