I agree that Tesla is different, but I would say it's a stretch to call ALL other EV's a PITA.

I think Rivian is closing the gap with their unique designs and software. Porsche creates a good product. The big 3 Germans (Merc, BMW, Audi) are figuring it out quickly.

If you factor in charging infrastructure, yeah, the "others" are trailing, hence why they all just signed on with Elon's charging network. You have to remember that it took Tesla 15 years to get from the original Model S to where they are today. Rivian delivered their first product 2 years ago. The industry is still very young. A lot of battery tech and innovation to come from everyone, not just Tesla!

I will say, I stay in tune with current car news from independent sources. I follow a lot of car journalist and listen to firsthand experiences on Podcast's, videos, etc. I don't follow main stream sources (Fox, ABC, NBC, etc.) for my car news, they don't know what the hell they're talking about 75% of the time.

A lot of people love the Rivian product. People who have spent a lot of time in a lot of other EV's praise it. The new iX from BMW must be an OK vehicle because I have to see those ugly things driving all over place here in the Phoenix area. And yes, the American Big 3 aren't doing so hot . Look at the efficiency of the Hummer EV compared to any other EV, it's bad. Look at the flopped F-150 Lightning sitting all over Ford lots with heavy discounts, probably broken or in need of a recall fix as well.

 

I saw one of those at the CAS as well. Real ugly in person.

 

Mostly genetics but I try and eat decent and exercise a little, I definitely would like to put on some more muscle though.
I barely drink anymore and don't stress about much.

That's along the lines of using an EV for towing, not practical at all!

 

It takes a lot to push a big 7,500lb - 9,000lb boat through water. Very curious to see how far/long it’ll go on a charge. I suspect it’ll be similar to a road going EV pulling a heavy trailer….not far!
