Well first off, the Ram will fail in warranty, so you won't actually be paying for it. Eat that EV whores. :p

Second, and more seriously, they are being disingenuous with the Carolla because that's the engine for the GR Carolla. Top end high performance... and it's not even a 4 cylinder, it's 3. I'd take that particular post and the one that posted it with a grain of salt because their bias is preventing them from being completely honest.

As a second vehicle, I've always been on board with an EV. I just wouldn't ever have it as my only vehicle. I take too many multiday high mile trips on a whim. Prime example; I drove 21 hours from Wyoming to Texas without stopping for more than 15 minutes to get fuel, and only had to get fuel 3 times. The best EV on the market can't match that trip time.

I remember seeing a graph that after 6? months of ownership, the ICE vehicle past the EV on impacts to the environment.

I don't care either way, but somebody had that data out there

Sent you a PM with some info. That "data" is skewed by using a low range EV and completely discounting the production impact of the vehicles, which is lower in an ICE.

It's kinda like the gender pay gap "data." It's been manipulated to push a narrative, but when all factors are accounted for it's a very different story than the one being pushed.

Not saying you're wrong but the study I saw had the battery production in the data.
The EV vehicle had way more of an initial impact than i would of thought.

Another fun factor that is left out is that some of the emissions stuff for ICE is actually a net negative. Two examples are putting corn into fuel and EGRs.

Recent studies show that manufacturing and distribution of ethanol is a bigger carbon no no impact than just burning straight fuel on it's own.

Then you have EGRs. In the very short term they "reduce emissions" by artificially reducing the displacement of an ICE to "improve" fuel economy. In the first 10-20K miles it works as the pushers say it does, but what they don't disclose or account for is the fact that recirculating exhaust gasses back into the combustion chamber to reduce the displacement winds up causing soot and carbon build ups, especially in direct injected engines. This dirty burn winds up reducing the engines efficiency and makes the whole carbon no no score for an EGR equipped vehicle worse over the life of the vehicle than an unmolested ICE.

It's about control, power, and division. They don't give two phucks about the environment or any impacts to it. Doesn't stop the sheep from eating it up, though.

Rumor has it the Shanghai plant is switching over very soon, I'm betting summer/fall for the US release.

Repulsive may have been slightly hyperbolic for effect, but I wouldn't call them pretty or good looking. Fine, the girl may not be ugly but she definitely isn't pretty either. :sorry:

I don't see why you wouldn't. I was kind of shocked you jumped on the current one with the potential for a refresh being so close.

Food for thought. Generally speaking. We all know that ICE vehicles aren't environmentally friendly and it's been legitimately acknowledged. That's a given, but....I find that above mentioned "graph" dubious at best. Example: Did "they" factor in the ongoing and long term damage to the environment caused by illegal cobalt mining and what basically amounts to slave labor? What the ongoing and long term exposure working in illegal, unregulated mining does to the kid miner's health who are working literally for peanuts? Did "they" factor that in? I wonder if they get sick days off? I wonder what those kid miners think about green initiative EV tax credits? Did they factor in the ongoing and long term environmental harm caused by Chinese owned mines and processing facilities? That's just scratching the surface. Much of what goes on is entirely unregulated, never considered or reported on because it goes against the spoon fed green "narrative". I believe in choice of course. It's nice to have options, but lets get real about this. The over hyped EV hyperbole is excruciatingly nauseating at times and ignores reality.

My wife wasn't crazy about the stalk-less design for the refresh, I'm not either actually. Also, not knowing if they were going to jack up prices for the new Y.

I don't know enough about them to know what the "stalk-less design" is. Like a shifter stalk or something?

I'm sure they definitely don't take those factors in the data. Pretty sad situation that applies to all our electronics too, the EV battery is just an easier target.

It does get exhausting, I'll never claim that I'm buying a Tesla to save the environment.

I will claim that I'm buying the most American made, best selling, safest SUV out there :D

Yeah, the turn signal stalk on the left is moving to buttons on the wheel and the "gear selector" stalk on the right is going to be on the screen now.
I belive the S and X already have this.
