Don't have an after pic. But here's before pic of beautiful NW rainbow trout working on the pellicle couple weeks ago before a trip into the bradley. Will be doing a second batch in another week or two.PXL_20210126_222809676.jpg

I am in the same boat. Cant decide between smoker grills and vertical smokers. Day 2 of watching youtube video. Check out Mad Scientist BBQ where he talks about price ranges for diff smokers. I really want a pellet one but offsets produce the best flavor. One channel mentions a smoker tube (tube with lit up pellets inside, lightly smoking) to enhance the smoke flavor. Then there is another channel that compares set vs actual heat readings in diff models. I think ill keep watching videos for another week or so before deciding which one to buy

I have had several before settling on my Yoder. I had a Traeger and a Rec Tec. Rec Tec all day long. They are better quality, more consistent heat, and their service and warranty is second to none.

Have not seen a Grilla in person, but they seem to be a quality pellet smoker. I would also look into Green Mountain Grills. They are going to be in the mid range with Rec Tec, Grilla, etc.....

Yoder seems to be on a different level from what I can gather, not quite at that level yet, I'm leaning toward the Rec Tec so far

You will be fine with the Rec Tec. I can't say that it is in a whole different level, the Rec Tec is pretty good. Yoder has its advantages, but for being 3x as much money, I can't sit here and say the food is 3x as good coming off the Yoder.

It looks like Rec Tec has changed their name to recteq. Never noticed before.

Had it last weekend, family begged all week to have it again.... Smoked BBQ meatloaf. Changed the recipe up a little. Used camel used onion this time, also put a little bit more mozerella and Parmesan cheese in it this time. Just potatoes this time. Have some Ghiradelli brownies and ice cream for desert though this time!!!80A7F9ED-631C-4748-9869-7D97098E905B.jpg3DEB4AFD-2A7D-44B3-AB39-0981E3DC4195.jpg

Have some friends coming over tonight. Went to the butcher and got a 6.5 pound pork butt, St. Louis rack of ribs, and some hone made beef sausage that I am going to smoke today.

For sides keeping it simple today. Cole slaw, Mac n cheese, and chips and dip.

Used a layer of Kosmo's Dirty Bird Hot then Heath Riles Honey Rub on the pork butt. Ribs and sausage will go on later.359182CC-B81A-4FB8-BDC6-6B92C9F7812E.jpgC97BBFCB-47FB-44FC-82E2-B7BBAA9ED1AF.jpg

Since good Ol Covid started, I’ve been buying the butterball boneless Turkey Breast from Walmart for @$10. So easy and no messing with a big bird. Your favorite BBQ rub at 250-350. Done in 2-2.5 hrs. You can’t beat it.

I have had like 30 grill and smokers, hahaha. Sort of a hobby of mine. I had a BGE a while ago and wish I kept that grill around. I am going to get another ceramic and will probably go with Kamado Joe this time to be different.

About 7pm, if you leave now you can make it! I also like a good contrasting flavor of a little bit of heat and some sweetness. I use a vinegar sauce with a really sweet coke slaw and it compliments it really good also.

I use Heath Riles recipe and it is awesome!!!! I use the meat for lunches during the week. I bought a deli meat slicer so I even slice mine and use for lunch meat on sandwiches. I usually buy them when they are on sale and throw them in the freezer. For lunch meat they come out fine and usually have about 3 or 4 breasts in the freezer.

Getting closer..... Pork butt hit its stall a couple hours ago. Put on a rack or ribs and wrapped the pork butt. Should be perfect timing for a late 7pm dinner.9EC95680-A348-4ACE-AC26-29E73A4B587A.jpgC3317F75-2755-414A-A3CB-44DF92FA43EA.jpg

Well.... It was really good. All 8 people were grabbing the beef sausage as I was cutting it up so it was an appetizer! The pork and ribs were really really really really good. Having some hot fudge and caramel sundaes to top the night off. Going on a diet this week.....

I have the rec tec 590 and a traeger pro 34. There's nothing wrong with my Traeger but Go Rec Tec it holds the temps awesome with way less fluxuation even when it's in the low 20's and teens outside. Oh yeah get the comp cart too it rolls around super good. I got the comp cart as a bonus on black friday

I do the same when I get a desire for a turkey and bacon sandwich, do a bacon weave and wrap the breast in it and smoke away. Amazing to say the least.

Big bowl of jerky fresh out of the smoker. Knowing how it goes in this house, probably be all gone by tomorrow night.
