I love fishing the Conservancy water on the McCloud. Very limited number of people, remarkable trout water. Need a reservation ahead of time, but no cost.

I ordered a Century Ultra Sport with a rack. May try and do a rooftop tent. A guy I coach with has a raft and we are planning on heading to St Regis when the season gets over for an overnighter. We will see how it goes, with the massive influx of people in the flathead in the last couple weeks I need to get away!!

Oh I definitely will. That is gorgeous. I could fish that all day. Not catch a thing and walk away happy. We already planned on Sept-ish just to get away from the crowds. Want to see Yellowstone again, but ill skip it if the crowds dont die down.

Apparently a world wide pandemic means vacation in MT. Im so damn sick of the tourists. Basically wrote off going to Glacier at all this year. Unless i can drive through to the east side, i skip it all together. The Clark fork looks amazing right now. Gonna hit the St Regis 1 more time tonight, then head home.

Crappy thing is most aren't leaving!!! They are buying property sight unseen and bringing their altered state of mind with them!!! Flathead is turning into Missoula mindset!! Hate is a strong word, so I'll say I very much dislike liberal thinking!!!

Yup...WF was bad enough...now its just bleeding over into everywhere. When the average working families cant buy a house where they work/live...its gonna get intresting. We just got our place apprised and looked at the wife and was like "who in the world would pay that for this place".

The wife and I are looking at moving to the flathead valley. Southern Colorado is too crowded and I have a buddy that lives in whitefish with his family. But it definitely seems like housing prices are jumping since we started looking in the last year. Now we might be looking more towards Libby or even Idaho not sure yet I just need to find a place in this country with mountains and less people.

Real estate prices are getting nuts everywhere.

I have wanted to relocate to MT or WY but honestly cant afford it.

Looks like I will be stuck here in okie land till I die, not a bad thing for the most part, just that the weather really sucks.

I wish I had bought land 30 years ago.

Haha tell me about it, we built a few years ago before the market boom. Bought the last larger piece of property 5 acres with 2500 sq ft house. Paid mid 300's just appraised for 725k. And we are not even in town, about 7 miles outside towards Olney. I did the same thing looked at the wife and asked the same question. I have had realtors just drive up and ask if we want to sell...finding someone to pay that would be harder then they make it out to be for sure. I could see mid 500's but not in the 7's. But could be wrong. Lots of high dollar folks trying to move in

Look at Colombia Falls, Creston, Coram. I would never relocate to Libby.....

Fishing deep in the Bob would be amazing. I really want to float the Flathead from Canada to Cfalls. Camp and throw flies for a week on the way down.

The BOB is magical, we better not talk about it or it will get infested by outsiders too...……………….

Did a 7 day horse trip in there last year, amazing is the only word for it.

Sounds like Idaho! Bought in 2010........$300,000, 3 acres, just appraised for $900,000. Doesn't mean much unless you're willing to sell......except higher taxes.

Yes, I've had a frickin escrow shortage since I moved into the place...but it is nice to know I could sell theoretically and have a bunch of money the government would want to get their hands on...:bananadance:

i got in for two days out of four for my trip. i have always dreamed of fishing out of private, controlled trout water that's catch and release only. i've fished public gold and blue metal catch and release but nothing private like a preserve. oh man so psyched. thanks for the referral, prob would have never found it.

anyone have any good/basic crayfish patterns? My neighbor just bought a john boat, so i suspect i'll get a shot at some river/lake bass fishing soon. I'm a trout guy, so besides my wooly buggers/sculpin streamers, i dont have much in the way of bass bugs. Out of excitement, i cobbled together a few with strictly the materials i had on hand. I like to make due with what i have instead of buying a bunch of stuff to tie a few flies. That said, i used a craft bead and lead underbody on the shank, clumpes of squirrel tails for claws, a fish skull on a cable tie for the eyes, black crystal flash and/or rubber legs for antennae, chenille body palmered with cheap Chinese rooster neck hackle (trimmed close), then a dyed wood duck feather coated in Hard as Nails as a tail. I got most of my inspiration from Tim Flaggler's youtube video for his cable-tie craw-dad, but used what i had on hand. Critiques/alternatives are welcome!

Finally getting around to posting some pics from 2 weeks of fly fishing at home in PA. Had a blast fishing with my dad, uncle and cousin and caught a ton of fish. My cousin, who's new to fly fishing definitely has a golden horseshoe buried in his...... waders. One of my best browns

Being from Pittsburgh, it shouldn't be, but with two young kids and a money-pit house, Penns is a bucket list trip for me! Very nice! Feel free to PM me any additional info you're willing to share regarding parking/access/etc if i ever make it out that way :) (assuming public land?)

We were fishing a stretch near Penns Cave off of Penn Creek Rd near Ross Hill Rd. I honestly don't know much about Penns, that's more my cousins neck of the woods. I know that where we were at is a private stretch of water that he has permission to fish (a benefit of being in the upper ranks of the PGC). There is as much private water as there is public on Penns. I fish more in the north central part of the state, Cameron, Potter and Clinton counties.
If I were to recommend a place to go it would be Kettle Creek. Great fishing, easy access, lots of fly only water and lots of all tackle water too. If you like to camp, Ole Bull State Park has nice amenities and the town of Cross Forks has some cottages for rent. It's just an awesome place to visit and fish and the Kettle is as renowned as Penns.
