I’ve been shopping since summer 2020 and APR has been creeping up from 0%, to 0.9%, and now 2.9%. I think there may have been a 1.9% in there somewhere.

If you’ve been shopping since last summer then you have to make some concessions on packages or colors

As a current owner I’d prefer they NOT offer incentives. Higher new prices keep my resale value high and that makes me happy. Not that I’d consider selling for any reasonable amount.

I had a pro on order. Was able to get it at MSRP. Right before it was supposed to show up I was alerted that they had to mark it up $5k so I backed out. So I started looking at limited/platinums but by that time APR had already gone up to 2.9% @ 60 months so I lost interest.

So you originally had an agreement with a dealer on a PRO for MSRP and just before you got the truck, they marked it up five grand? Did you have a deposit on it or something?

Not to be rough but count your blessings you probably could not afford the truck anyway since Toyota incentives are really not that much to begin with and now you can’t afford it.
You were likely overspending in the first place because the incentives made it seem like a better deal.

I'm not sure what the rules are with the incentives but after watching Tundradude34 and his newest video, I decided to call my local dealer and ask about Tundras. Salesman told me they had the $1,000 rebate, 2.9% interest for 60 months and 3.9% interest for 72 months. It should be noted the dealer has no inventory except for a 2021 SR5 with no packages and a $3,000 mark up bringing it to a total of $46,200 which is INSANE

No deposit or anything so I can’t say anything about it. We just did it through a salesman friend of ours. Told him to order it and we were off, he said he’ll tell me when it’s here. My family has been buying from him for around 20 years so I think his boss made the call, not him.

ditto. Ordered in January when rebate was $3000....now $0. Ouch.

$3000 in January. $2000 in February and $1000 in March. If the incentive was the make or break then I think You’re right Toyota helped you out financially. ~$50 a month for a $3000 rebate at 60 months. Should not be a determinant.

A mark up of $15k-$20k is insane and to pay that is even more insane.

I’m in NorCal. $15k is the markup for land cruisers. $15k markup on a Tundra I’d rather get a Ram TRX and deal with the depreciation and high maintenance.

    Two issues I see here..
First: RAM is NOT a Toyota and there is a reason they always offer 10K plus off list!
Second: As you mentioned you are in NorCal, things are different there.

Even a $10k markup puts it into LX570 territory. Anyone with that kind of money would just buy the LX. The only ones that would go for the LC are the rich YouTube overlanders.

Glad I bought mine when I did, got all the rebates and even more. Got a quote online and when I showed up at the dealership some A-Hole salesmen refused to sell me the truck at the price they quoted me. Told him to stick it up his ass, and left. Got a call from the sales manager the next day, he apologized and took another $1500.00 off the price for my aggravation. $ 37,500.00 OTD.

Hard to offer incentives when the supply is so low due to the mess with semi conductors and a crazy high demand. We don’t even have a new truck on the lot right now at work and may not even get a single tundra for another month!

Unpopular opinion here, but financing at 72 months is nuts.

Right on! I could never by a new car until my 2002 Tundra. Before that, was buying used and did just fine with 5-10 year old vehicles. College, marriage, family, mortgage, 401K.... always more important investments. My current Tundra is truly a luxury item. Glad that it is holding its value, but it is not an investment. If you can afford a $70K truck, then good on you. What is awesome about Tundra's, is that we can buy a used one that has 150,000 miles on the clock, and a strong chance that it will go another 150,000 miles. YMMV.

    Exactly.

I just shake my head when some small incentives make or break a deal. They couldn't afford it anyway.

That is very popular in my mind, unless it is 0%.

48 months used to be the way to go most of my adult life.
I'd never do a vehicle loan over 60 months now or ever..

My 2014 loan with Toyota credit was 0% for 60 months (with a $2500 rebate) and I paid $45 a month more and paid it off a couple months early.
Payment was $555 and most months I just paid $600.
Something to be said for buying a 2014 in December of 2014..:eek2:

My 2005 Tundra loan with Toyota credit was 0% as well, and my credit was a little worn with a recent divorce.
I went in to buy a used 2003 but they told me they could give me a better deal on a new 2005 with 0% for 60 months.

I guess those were better times.....

I paid $750.00 cash for my first truck, just happy to still be alive and driving my fairly new Tundra. Happy Good Friday to all that celebrate as well.
