Every light on the dash turned on with a bunch of warnings

Just had every light on my dash turn on, 4HI and 4LO flashing, with the warnings “Trailer brake error, if towing come to a safe stop with manual controls. Contact dealer”, “Pre-Collision System malfunction, Visit dealer.” “Keyless Start/Stop system malfunction, visit dealer.” Truck runs fine, can’t notice any problems. Just dropped it off at the dealer and they seem to be at a loss. Anyone have this happen? 2020 TRD Pro with about 4K miles on it.

Edit: Dealership just told me that they’re showing a leak somewhere in the speed sensor - they say they’re not sure if it’ll be covered under the warranty.

A leak in the speed sensor? Didn’t know wires could spring a leak. Lol. Unless they mean a loss of information which means either the sensor went bad or there’s a break in the line

Did it just rain a lot in your area? I’ve seen some really unexplainable things electrically that ended up being water on a junction block. Especially driver or passenger side kick panels.

I’m gonna give them a chance to fix it before I tear the walls down.

Advisor said there was a leak, paperwork says “c1330 - Open right front speed sensor; c1464 Front right speed sensor”
I asked him “What exactly is it leaking.” And he said “I’ll have to ask” haha
Pouring rain, and I had just been driving in it for about an hour.

Give the dealer some time, no need to jump on them yet like you said. I like your attitude! :fingerscrossed:

Hopefully they can give you another truck to drive while the repair is done.

They offered me a Corolla. I said I’ll roll the dice on driving it another day and drop it off tomorrow afternoon when I get off work.

There is certainly some weird communication between you and the service writer.

It’s super likely that a junction block is wet. I don’t know how mechanically inclined you are, but if you pull up the skid plate on the driver side and pop the kick panel off I’m betting you will see some moisture. If you don’t feel like going through all that you could try to just let it dry on it’s own, or you could ask the dealer to check for moisture there. I have seen a phantom wheel speed sensor code that I spent way to long trying to diagnose. That was the cause. Let us know!

But it really seems like this shouldn’t happen. This seems very likely because it was seriously pouring today, and I was bobbin and weavin down the freeway for an hour in this torrential rain - but it really seems like these things should be better sealed. Are there any long term ramifications to it getting wet?

Your speed sensor is connected to your blinkers, so you should have them top off the blinker fluid as well.

Is it possible that the pre collision sensor in the grille got some water in it? There is a recall for this issue where they apply some sealer to the sensor as a remedy.

Of course they should be better sealed, but sometimes seals get rolled on assembly or sometimes the amount of water is just to much for the sunroof drain tube to handle. If it’s a one time occurrence you should be fine. If this happened even occasionally you could get some corrosion in the connectors. The dealer can clean the connectors for you, but they will probably just use a mixture of vinegar and water to clean corrosion. You could let the truck run with the heat on recirculate to try and pull moisture out of the cabin if you have a garage.

It’s at the dealership now, so we’ll see what they end up doing.

So the dealership couldn’t find anything wrong with it. The service advisor had a hard time explaining to me why I had to sign a waiver saying I was accepting full responsibility for taking an unsafe vehicle off the lot yesterday, but it’s now apparently sage even though they couldn’t find anything to fix.

Warranty covers manufacturing defects, not damage. If a rat chewed his wires Toyota wouldn't fix it for free.

They just legally hosed you by having you sign that paperwork.

How far away is the next dealer that is somewhat reputable in your area?

Completely stock. The advisor was saying my lift may have caused the problem, I had to explain to him it was a stock TRD Pro lift. He was unaware that was a thing.

I think any leverage they would have had legally by having me sign paperwork saying it is unsafe to drive, is null and void after signing paperwork that the truck is in perfect condition, and they couldn’t find any issues with it the following day.

The corona virus officially has transmitted from bats to snakes to humans and now tundras. Seriously though I would take it to a different dealer.

Did you panic buy oil, fluids and boxes of work shop towels for your Tundra?
