This whole thing was a cluster fuck nightmare. I spent more than 10 hours just trying to talk to a human at one credit rating agency. I still haven't untangled this mess. Fuck them all.

    I feel better now.

Nice. I wish I knew this was an option. I may have my wife go this route.

Agreed. If I didn’t have 10 years of credit monitoring through my work I would have taken that option.

Might as well. I have frozen my credit with all three bureaus. In Colorado after the first freeze/unfreeze you will be charged 10 dollars each time. But, you can file a police report and send it to the bureaus and they cannot charge you. In some states it is law that the consumer can never be charged. I highly recommend freezing your credit. It’s easy and when you need to have your credit pulled you can ask what bureau they use and unfreeze just the ones they need and do it for a predetermined amount of time and it freezes back up.

The “odds” of even seeing the full 125 dollars is 1/5 of 1 percent. What a scam. People will be lucky to see 50 dollars.

Oh trust me, my credit is frozen. I've followed this story since the beginning. Equifax is evil. It's amazing how much corporations get away with. They really have bought our politicians. They are essentially untouchable.

I didn't find it easy. In fact, I'm still not certain what the status is with the three agencies for my wife and me. It's a cesspool.

No offense, but it really is easy. Go online to the bureau and sign up. When complete you will be given a 10 digit pin to lock and unlock which is done right online. Don’t lose the pin. Trans union allows you to create your own password.
It doesn’t affect anything with your credit and works great. The one time I forgot I had it someone was going to pull my credit and came back and said “sorry, we can’t access your credit”. In five minutes I had it unlocked and they accessed my credit.

And they'll buy off most of the general public for 50 dollars a head and laugh their ass off as they cut the checks.

    $125.

Before my flight was about to leave today they were offering $1000 vouchers to take a later flight. Hell no.

I’m sure a lot of people submitted for that cash before all the facts were revealed and unfortunately probably got duped again. They have now basically given up their rights to pursue any further action.

Seems to me the whole thing is backwards. The default should always be to deny credit inquires unless the consumer contacts the agency to allow it, rather than requiring the consumer to notify the agency to hold their credit information in confidence. I know that's what the credit freeze does, but it should not be necessary.

I think I might have many years ago. It's TransUnion. Problem is I can't figure out a way to recover the user ID and password.

I have one more credit freeze left for my wife. Experion wants me to jump through hoops unless I agree to pay them $24.99 per month for their credit lock lol.

I don’t buy that. It’s a federal law with preset amounts that can be charged.
100 percent free and can be done in 5 minutes online

Right. Unless they determine there is some problem with what you input into the credit freeze form. Then they asked that I fill out a form, and mail it with copies of identification forms. Because this process was easy for you does not mean everyone has the same experience. I could get pissy about you calling me a liar, but I know this is how the internet forums work.

No man, I gave you the link. Fill out the online information and you're done. You don’t need to provide forms or mail anything. I’m trying to help you and I’m also trying to be clear so that no other members think this is a difficult process. It’s literally as easy as filling out that form. Try the link and fill out the info.
