Engine or axle jump

    This has only happened three times in the past couple months.

    I'll let my truck warm up for no more than a minute before driving off. Sometimes within a mile later, I'll be at a stop light/sign full stop and I'll press the accelerator. It revs up slightly for a couple seconds and "catches" putting me in second gear pretty rough. I never punch it, it's always a slight acceleration.

    Any idea what this is? I'm thinking it's either the cold weather or need some new rear axle oil. (Changed that 6 months ago at the 50k milestone.

    Did you do your 30k mile service in the Transmission? All this is:

    Level & viscosity check

    All solenoids checked for function.

    Sounds to me, if the engine revs up and goes hard into the next gear...solenoid issue.

    My dealership did my 30k check for free, did the 60k mile service (drain and fill) plus check all the solenoids.
    I was going to do a drain and fill at 90k, but we know why I didn't perform that service.

    Doesn't it really matter that it only happens rarely (three times in the pst couple of months) and only has happened now that it's been near freezing temps? Still sound like a solenoid going bad?

    Solenoids can stick due to temps. That is three more times than mine did in 84k miles.

    Could be something else as well doing on in the transmission. They may put a recorder on your ecm to troubleshoot what is going on.

    Hell yes brother. Better to break now than later.

    Once you get it on record, it helps with warranty issues after the 60k or if you have 100k miles.
