Nothing like a good old oil thread to bring out the "where is my tow hooks" in everybody. LOL.

Gene must live in some alternate universe where chemical engineers and tribologists combine their knowledge and craft a fluidic lubricant that can withstand contamination and kinematic viscosity shift over a protracted period of service.

I wish I could visit that fantasy land.

I had a truck psychic do a reading and they said my truck is happy and the oil is fine.
They also said that my truck told them that it would like premium fuel more often because it tastes better. Otherwise, it's happy.
I do this about once a month and the truck let's the psychic know when it wants new oil.
    Only $75 a visit.

Because there is no possible way that 9 qts in the sump could possibly last longer... Remember, dirty oil = ineffective oil!

I all seriousness though, Toyota recommends 10k change intervals. Some people think that is too long and change it sooner. Oil is cheaper then an engine but we also have near double the quantity of oil to use. I generally do it every 5-7.5k depending on use.

No reason it over think it, change it often and you are set. Simple as that.

There is a false sense of security that synthetic oil can go further with not breaking down I don’t trust an oil filter to work effectively for that long. There will still be contaminants getting in the oil ( gasoline and sludge) that the filter doesn’t take out sludge will gather over time the cleaner you keep the engine the better it will operate

10k may be a stretch, Most vehicles average 30 miles per hour between red lights, highway, and idling. So statistically you are changing your oil every 333 engine hours, if it had an hour meter.
