If you are changing oil every 5k miles any of the top brands will do. Best bang for buck oils is Amazon and Costco

    5w30 every 5k.

Or be weird and do 0w20 every 10k.

Kirkland 0W20. Around here, it is by far the best value for the money, especially when on sale.

Someday I just want to start a thread with the title "OIL". Nothing else but the single word. I truly love the insanity that is unleased on the planet whenever the insane redundancy of any oil thread is released.

I run 0w20 in winter and add a little corn starch in late May to thicken it up for summer.

I know this is obnoxious as hell, but I have a family member that is a lubrication engineer at chevron Houston. His sentiment is buy whatever is cheapest that meets the standard, and change it regularly, premium oils are a waste of money. So I’ve gone by his recommendation. I buy the store brand high mileage synthetic personally, for my first gen.

Last oil change I used Mobil 1 5w20 regular and used an OEM filter. Both from Walmart, so about $60 for two 5qt jugs and the filter.

It’s not obnoxious and I do agree. All of the top name brands are similar as far as detergents and anti wear chemicals go. Change at 5k miles and you will be good. One problem is that with synthetic is people think it’s ok to wait til 10-15k miles to change at that point I would be concerned about the oil filter

9qts of Maple Sap every 6 months or 5k miles. It's free for me and I stock up every year. Plenty for all my vehicles and toys!

I make my own filters out of birch bark also.

After many taste tests through a change interval, I would say it starts to syrup around 3k miles. Perfect and ready for pancakes by 5k.

Don't worry though, even when syrup starts it is still thicker than 0w-20! ;)

    No no no no no...

You cannot expect 8.5qts (2.125 gallons) of that fluid to serve for that distance.
