Just got this text back from a very top notch Suzuki Dealer Parts guy.

I asked him. Who's oil does Suzuki use?

    His response was

"Rumor is Motul but i did some research and it looks like they developed their own oil back in the 80s....."

"The brand goes back to Suzuki Maruti. The old parent company"

I've never priced it. The fact that they charge a premium for it makes me even more suspicious. It's probably just Mobil's cheapest formula that Toyota buys in bulk. They probably pay more for the labels and packaging than the oil itself

Anyway, there's only a few companies that actually make base stock. Everything else is just additives. Mobil, Penzoil, Castrol, Toyota, Suzuki, yada yada. It's all good shit and you're gonna dump it out and replace it in a few thousand miles. So, get the right multi grade for what you're doing and get what's on sale.

    The real question is,
    0w20 or 5w30?

    GO!......

Kirkland (aka: Costco) is the only way to go. 5W30 is the only way to go. If you have enough money Red Line brand oil is the only way to go.

Now. If you will excuse me. I have to go. :burnrubber:

I started using 5w20. I couldn't bring myself to trust 0W20. It is as thin as water. I live in a cold part of the country, I just don't want to cause issues on cold starts with 5w30, i mean if that is a potential issue.

Well, think of it this way:
The first number is the oil grade at cold start and the second number is the grade at operating temp.
    5-30
    5-20
    Same at startup.
    0-20
    0-30
    Better at start up.
You want your oil to be thin like water at startup in cold temps.

Yep. A simple use of our Search would have opened up the huge can of worms about anything and everything oil posted here over the years. Do we really need another oil thread? Seriously? Another oil poll?
Yota doesn't even make oil. It's rebranded. SMH

I've come to realize and accept that it is a sickness. It's like a bad drug that people can't say no to. Like a car wreck that you can't help but slow down and gawk at.
For as much as I hate every oil thread and everything they stand for, even I can't stay away.
    I hate myself.

Avocado oil is much better for both your truck and you.. and it costs more so you know it’s better.

I made the move to High Performance Lubricants Premium Plus PCMO in 5w-30 flavor.

Most folks don’t want to spend the money, but I’d rather make coffee at home and run HPL than buy Starbucks and use cheap “full synthetic” oil.
