So far just tint and chrome blackout, scared to do anything else because of this engine issue
Right, stuffa expensive and we all don't have unlimited funds to thro at it, but I love the way it looks drives, the interior on mine is problem free, I did have to glue the driver side passenger window trim back one as it was just hanging off and I can see highway speeds cracking that little black piece of plastic at the bottom of the windowoff, but other than that I love it except for the worry about the engine I've got a brand new set of tires for it I took the black rims from my Titan to a machine shop to get the center bore and large but there's not enough room for the lugs so I've got some pretty pretty tires for it 275 70 18 I just really would have liked black wheels on it or at least being able to keep both sets on rims with sensors but I'll figure it out eventually just keep working and working at it and that's one of the blow up on me hahaha

I’ve been ignoring the noise on here tbh as it’s been mostly toxic. I’m not within the recall due to being a hybrid and my build date is newer than specified, but just had my first oil change at 5k with no flakes in the oil. Have the warranty, will probably buy the extended warranty. I’m happy with the truck and I’m not gonna let the paranoia on here get me down. Enjoy it!

Dude, do you live in New York City? I'm an insurance underwriter and the only place I've ever seen a rate that high for 1 at-fault accident is New York City. If you're not in NYC, then there's more to your driving record story or you have a horrible insurance company. Shop around, better yet, contact an insurance broker that deals with multiple companies. That way you make 1 phone call instead of 20.

Last week I swapped insurance. I’ve had GEICO for 6 years and was always happy with their service. But for the heck of it I decided to shop around and my very first quote with progressive was $600 less than with GEICO and has mostly better benefits. Went from almost $1100 for 6 months to paying $395 for my 6 months in full. So highly recommend shopping around cause I switched immediately after that and I will shop around every couple years going forward.

Cut the filter up and have a look. That's where the sparkles, if any, will be.

Icecap, nice truck. Listen friend. I have a 2024 as well, change your oil every 5k and let Toyota deal with it if it blows.

But dude. You were following way too close if someone slamming their brakes caused you to wreck. With the load you carry, you should be at least 10-15 car lengths back at 70 mpg. And you shouldn’t be driving faster than that with your load. Just based on the information that you provided, you are 100% at fault. Hope you can be honest with yourself and see that. Best of luck with everything!

^^This... do what you feel is best, never rely on an opinion on a forum to make your decision.

I bought the 10 year 100,000 mile on my new truck this weekend for the first time. I slow played the push to get it and got it for 2k, 1,500 under the first offer and I can cancel it at any time. I'm a decent shade tree mechanic but with all the electronics on this new truck I went with the extended warranty. I usually keep my vehicles 12+ years so it's just a peace of mind issue for me.

Agreed, use information as a tool but don't let it define your personal happiness.

In saying that, paranoia is exactly one of the factors that is driving me to trade and get out while I can. The extended warranty is nice insurance, but that is not my concern. My concern is that under the likelihood of my engine failing, I then have to take my new truck to a Toyota mechanic which based on my personal experience with local dealers entails a young, oil change specialist. That mechanic will be asked to take apart my truck, dissemble and remove the old engine, and presumably install a new engine while putting my truck back together. The likelihood of that mechanic doing so without scratching my truck, damaging clips, not properly torquing nuts due to warranty pay labor (thus rushing to cut corners), and being overall disgruntled and unhappy anyway, does not give me a confidence inspiring feeling. Then, the enjoyment of a new truck experience is shot to hell because I now go from being worried about the recall and my engine locking up due to a bad bearing, to now having to worry if an oil change specialist installed everything correctly. It's been documented that a number of those that have had short block replacements have had to go back to the dealer multiple times for issues I mentioned above, and additional short block installations. Once a truck is compromised even by the most experienced tech (if you're lucky enough to get one), it will never be the same as newly assembled on the assembly line. Looking at the pictures of those poor souls that have had failures, their engines are torn to pieces and scattered all over the service area along with truck parts......a very disturbing image indeed.
