I’m not saying that you don’t have a problem, but my truck had a very similar clunk for a full year until Toyota released a TSB for it. It sounds like the startup “clunk” a lot of trucks had for a long time.

You might check to make sure they flashed your TCM with that software update that was referenced in T-SB-0110-22. It’s possible that the TCM was set back to its original software during the rebuild or maybe that TSB was never done in the first place. Just a thought.

So your telling me the special engineer/tech toyota specifically flew out to look at my truck does not know common problems/fixes for current engine related noises?
If this is a common (because of the software update is needed) but fixable issue and him and the store did not program my computer to relieve me of this clunk and my current issue makes me believe the issue is not software related and toyota is just not wanting to rebuild another engine that is still "running"
Again I appreciate the information you sent me and I would consider passing that on if I actually wanted this truck. The only thing the dealer and Toyota has done for me that I appreciate is get me into a truck so I can continue my work. Even if it was 5 different trucks because they kept putting me in new ones and they kept selling them while I was in them.

We don't know what the special Toyota tech did, but this clunk sounds the same as the "startup clunk" that my truck had until the TSB was released for it, I think it was related to the transmission. It's no longer doing this clunk sound at the start up, however, when I have my rear window down, I can still hear this clunk once a week or so when driving, when transmission is getting into weird shifting situation...

So ask dealer to check the clunk tsb that's referenced above, it may fix it as it did for all of us

Imagine how embarrassing it would be to rebuild a motor for a transmission problem?

Correlation does not imply causation, as the saying goes. It’s possible the two events have nothing to do with each other.

That being said, it would suck if trucks with the start up “clunk” were indicative of the ones with a highest likelihood of engine failure.

I could show you a video of mine doing the exact same thing or you could just watch your own again, mine is even the same color. Fixed in 50min at the dealership with the T-SB-0110-22, not only did it fix that, but the truck drives completely different now...in a good way.

I have a '23 non-hybrid Platinum with a build date of Jan 17, 2023. It has not been included in the recall. The dealership told me yesterday that my engine was produced at a plant that did not have engine problems. I am only aware of these engines being produced at the Huntsville plant. Was the dealership giving me a BS answer to blow me off?
