Totally agree, unfortunately my truck is a 500mi/wk daily driver that has to do double duty as a wife/kid hauler, work vehicle, grocery getter and everything else you can imagine. An older, 1-ton diesel would be kick-ass though. Maybe in the future if I can handle multiple vehicles.

Hey, lady, you're bummin' us all out and you've said your peace.
I don't need a lecture on the realities of earth. I've been to multiple third world countries in a variety of capacities, mostly providing heavy rescue, trauma and security work. I've seen the absolute worst that this world has to offer. I want to fight and live. Spare me.

Yep well said. I would probably add a big water storage solution to the back but this is right on the money. Might even come in handy in real life.

I’ll add to this. Solar powered charger. Night vision or thermal FLIR device and a damn rain jacket. Lots of socks.

I would definitely add large water storage if you live in a hot climate. I'm fortunate where I am that there's mostly clean fresh water pretty much everywhere. Every highway either follows or crosses a river, stream or creek at some point. Lakes and ponds are in abundance. The Sawyer filter makes quick work of cleaning up any water here. The nice thing about it is I can fill a disposable water bottle (of which I have a few in the truck) from the source, screw the Sawyer onto it and drink. I do toss a 20 liter water jug in the truck for longer backcountry trips mainly to save on the hassle of filtering water.

Don’t know why water is always second thought but nothing else matters if you don’t have it. Here in south Florida good water is hard to find. I’m gonna check out that filter and add it to camp pack. Great list btw.

Remove the Bed. Nah forget about that. If you are serious about this, get a 3500. Then remove its bed and replace it with a semi armored, safe room living space. Include mounts for remotely operated machine gun....

Good for you! I wasn't lecturing anyone, you made a statement and I responded to said statement. Yes, I am sure you have just seen everything there is to see in the world... not! I have been in EMS for 22 years and the emergency room for about the same, so spare me, you haven't seen anything close to what the "end of the world" or whatever you want to call it would look like!

Good luck though... I am sure you will do great with no food, water, electricity, medical care, or other needs for longer than a month, like the rest of us!!

If society does break down, I’ll trade my Tundra for as much water, food, ammo, and such as I can. I already live in the woods so I’ll just blockade myself inside and do the best I can for as long as I can take it.

That’s a really good list. Maybe add an onboard compressor?

That's on the list to buy once funds allow. It will be added to my recovery bag, which comes with us on longer backcountry trips. That's another whole list by itself. LOL

Oh yeah, I forgot the shit tickets and hand sanitizer on my list. Gotta have those too. :D

Just finished my compressor today. Got the single arb high output model. I think it'll do everything I need it to.

Got a deal from a guy on this forum and ordered a mount from another forum member. With the compressor, mount, auxiliary hose hookup and hose kit I'm probably in about ~$500

Ok, here’s what comes to my mind.

    1. Means of self-recovery. If you have plenty of money, this would be a winch. If you don’t have money, a set of the self-recovery boards (like maxtrax) or a bush winch. (I’ve never used the bush winch, but it does make sense to me).
    2. Racks on which I’d store
    A. Water jugs
    B. Spare fuel
    3. Rifle rack (the under-seat one above looks cool!!)
    4. Handgun storage (to keep it at the ready)
    5. Canoe rack (gotta be able to fish to get some food!!)
    6. CB and/or ham radio
    7. As many spare tires on rims as you can find a way to carry!!
    8. Cooler rack (to keep your catch, or your cleaned meat in)

Come to think of it, you might need a frailer for all the stuff I’d want to take!

Ooh, I got it!! The best thing!! Underground parking bunker so that the truck will survive the emp blast! Just remember, no electrical lines into the bunker or the emp will still possibly get ya!

Staying on task, you'd be surprised on some of the simplicity the SOF Toyota trucks. Antennas on hoods, BFG AT tires, upgrades in wiring, and simple winch/cow catchers, NVG friendly "accessories" etc. Passed 1994 I don't know what they are doing. We (coalition forces) didn't even have MRAP'S and alot of toys. Hope this helps.
