I don't have the factory wireless charger (base sr5), but if this new kit just requires us to buy the factory insert for the dash cubby and modify it, then I'm in 100%.

    Count me IN.
Interestingly, had the exact same non-charge issue in a '22 Lexus LX 600 I drove last week. 10 seconds of charge then quit. Remove case, works fine.

It’s probably because Toyota uses the same qi charge module across their entire line. The one in the Tundra is found in Prius and Camry, for instance.

The charging surface area is extremely small. Especially as it relates to modern “oversized” smart phones.

Gonna start doing some tests on charging speeds and maintaining the blue indicator light in the panel.

    Initial tests are good.

Using an actual MagSage was proving to be extremely difficult as the tolerances for distance between the charger and the phone are extremely narrow. This means that the thickness of the plastic console plus a standard MagSafe case were causing issues.

That said, we think we found a solution and are planning to run some more tests. Some results from our first round of tests:

    • Much higher stability of connection
      • When placed on the charging surface, there are higher tolerances for phone placement. Which means you won’t have to fish around for a single exact spot to get a charge. You also be able to use thicker cases.
    • Charging speed increase of approximately 20% from our ver 1 tester
      • Just some generic tests but seeing as how the OEM charger put out hardly anything, this was a dramatic increase over OEM
    • Clean install
      • The exterior console surface will remain OEM.
      • No cutting
      • No drilling
      • Completely reversible
    • Multicolor LED charger indicator light in place of OEM light location
      • Blue, red, and flashing yellow to help indicate charging issues should any arise
      • Still has same OEM appearance
    • Android/other phone functionality (possibly)
      • For non-iPhone users, you won’t have to wait for us to find a separate solution for you
      • For use with any qi-capable phone

NOTE: Not all phones have been tested for chargability. Charge times may vary based on the end-user’s phone model, power consumption patterns, case, etc. Initial tests thus far have been in a controlled environment and outside of vehicle. Tests have been done using Apple iPhone Mini, Pro, and Pro Max model phones.

Testing continues and we are super excited to get this out to you guys ASAP but want to make sure we deliver on your expectations.

    Thanks for being patient

cable will be hardwired into the charging unit. You would just be routing the cable through the center console and plug it into the USB-C port inside the storage area.

The charging unit itself is secured to the back of the panel with a strong 3M-type double sided tape.

Everything is self-contained. Instructions and an install video are planned for mounting and console disassembly.

The connector plugs directly to the back of the OEM qi charger. Our initial test of the OEM qi charger on an iPhone 12 Pro Max in airplane mode netted just 3% in 30 minutes and also cycled through connected/disconnected repeatedly. As of this post, we haven't been able to locate a female connector version of it to hardwire to our charger. All of our tests have been out of the vehicle on a similarly powered USB-C port. We wanted to maintain a plug and play product so until we can identify a connector solution that maintains the plug and play while keeping the charging rates at expected levels, the USB-C connection was the route we opted for.

that and knowing toyota, they likely have like .0025 amps going through the OEM charging wires, lol.

as long as there are 0 wires visible and the face looks OEM, and install is very well laid out, I think you'll have a winner, you should be able to draw some decent power through the USB-C

but it would be awesome to just unplug a wire harness to the OEM one and plug in the new one

the OEM one was a train wreck on my test drive, it would not stay connected even if I held it there
