Hi all, I'm hoping to get some info on ECM alternatives for my 1st Gen Tundra. It's a 2002 with the 3.4 V6, 4wd, 5 speed. The truck won't start and I can't get a scan tool to connect to the ECM (I've tried multiple scanners). I ran the ECM power source inspection procedure from the FSM so I'm pretty confident the ECM is bad.
I've searched the internet and called a salvage yard that did a nationwide search. Apparently there is only one part number for this truck, 89661-0C470, and the only one I've been able to find is a crazy expensive overhauled unit.
Does anyone have a used 89661-0C470 ECM or does anyone have information about another part number ECM that would work for me?

We'll tag the expert, @empty_lord, but with your setup I think that's all you can do. They just didn't make many v6 4wd 5spd trucks so the ECUs are few and far between.

FS1 has ECUs out the ass and is a very reputable source. Link to your ECU: https://www.fs1inc.com/89661-0c470-...ne-computer-pcm-ecu-programmed-plug-play.html

They open, inspect, refurbish, and reflash every ECU they sell to the latest software rev avaialble. They almost always have stock on-hand.

But before you do that, you really need to pull the ECU out from behind the dash and get the EXACT part number off the existing unit. It'll be clearly printed on top of the ECU. Never trust any source other than what's actually in your truck.

Thanks, Shifty. FS1 was the crazy expensive source. My quote was $999, so I'm searching for alternatives first!
I did indeed pull the ECM to verify the p/n.

Thanks, bmf4069! I'm hoping empty_lord has some alternative solution!

Manual ECU is hard to come by. Have you inspected all your grounds? Ecu failure is rare. 97% of the time at work it’s a loose or corroded ground in the weirdest spot that caused these kind of non com issues

    ... or a blown fuse?

I guess the vehicle wouldn't run, but I was digging and it looks like his vehicle has an "ECU-IG" fuse in the dash, and maybe an "ECU-A" and "ECU-B" fuse. Pic below from interwebs. I'm too lazy to look at EWD.

But I gotta ask also @Yota02, if you live in the rust belt, or if you've ever had a cracked windshield, have you looked INSIDE the ECU to confirm there's no water damage inside? I'm not asking you this for no reason, let's just say it's happened once or twice.

Fuse for sure too. I tend to forget to mention them since it’s just habit for me to start there

I did check for power per the FSM ECM power check, but it did not have me check grounds. I'll do that next. I'll get back on that.

I did remove and open the ECM and there is no obvious damage or evidence of water intrusion.
