Agreed 100%. My mpg is even a tad better in the Tundra as opposed to the Tacoma. Lol.

1st gen size is of course very appealing though.

Lol! That’ll happen. Did you use cutting oil, or just drilled?
I need to drill and tap the hole for a skid plate mount as the sliders occupied that space and the bolt snapped when I was taking it out.

I haven’t even begun drilling holes

On my last truck I stuck with the pre-drilled holes for the “no drill” install. They held up find, even bashing on them a bit, but this go around I’ll drill and add the extra bolts for that little bit of extra rigidity.

No I was impatient, so I just dry-dogged it. Lol

Snapping bolts is no fun either! I was thinking of not doing any drilling too during my install, and they probably would hold up just fine, but it gives me that peace of mind knowing they've got the extra bolts in there.

Haven’t done much of recent. Still need to ditch the spacers and get the 5100s on. Been busy or traveling and want a free weekend just in case I need other parts or whatever - then to go get it aligned since it’s my daily.
Then might address some aesthetics (getting rid of the chrome lol).

    Lol! That’s usually me
At my old job I brought my drill and a towel and was drilling holes on my lunch break in the parking lot. But that won’t fly at my new gig haha.

Definitely. The peace of mind is nice.

Mike, let me know if you’re coming thru SD at all next week (leave for Tahoe in the AM). I can lend you my annular cutters. Make the process quite a bit faster.

So jealous! I’m really excited to hear how you like the 5.29 gears. Going to need to go for a ride to feel the difference and persuade me to save for them faster haha.

Just googled what an annular cutter is. Wow! Makes so much sense. That would be awesome! Thank you! I can wait until you’re back, not going to have time to drill until next weekend at the earliest anyways.

I love Tahoe. Probably my favorite place to go! I used to go as a kid all the time, then went almost every weekend to mountain bike for awhile. (I lived in the Bay Area then so it wasn’t such a trek). Still try to go at least every other year. Have you floated the trukee river? During summer months of course. Lol.

Ah yes, typical southern California driveway. Anyone up for some mudding? Or perhaps a swim? :mudding:

Have you been watching the snow chaos in Tahoe? And the snow on the 395? Or wait are you driving or flying?

Woah, really! I’m guessing the spot down by the bike shop?

    Yikes.

Not sure, I didn’t go measure. At the end it gets deep though, there’s a dip that’s a fair bit lower than the rest of the road.

Poor pic, but kinda shows the dips in the road.

I didn’t go deep enough for it. I have the parts from my Tacoma, I need to check if the connection to the diff is the same piece.

Toyota Poway can get the part that screws into the diff for less than 5 bucks.

I believe it is. Might be able to do that this weekend.

edit: just checked. Same part. I just need to go grab some hose clamps and rubber line.
