    It really doesn't matter if it is artificially low. From a legal accountability it's what the manufacturer has on the frames sticker. Pull or load above those limits you assume all liability and risk.

    +1, I have owned boats for 40 years. Once you learn how to back a trailer you will have no use for backup assist.

    IMHO, anyone who needs to use the backup assist should not be pulling a trailer.
