A man who tore up the streets of San Diego in a souped-up, off-road Volkswagen in a viral video seen by more than a million people pleaded guilty to several charges Monday, including reckless driving.

Blake Wilkey, 27, who was originally charged with 26 counts, pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor charges of reckless driving, one count of exhibition speed and one count of failing to obtain a special event permit.

He was sentenced to 45 days in jail and placed on three years probation.

Wilkey was the smiling driver in the video called “Urban Assault: San Diego Shark Attack,” which was posted on YouTube in January and has since racked up 1,197,713 views

I'd do that for 2 or 3 days in jail. But I don't think I could miss work for 45 days.

While the setup he has is pretty BA, he gave (or is giving) a badname to everyone else in the sport.

    Apparently, it's a S/C'd LS3! :burnrubber:

Oh holy hell that would be fun!!! Not worth the possible ass raping he may get in County lockup, but sure would like to see it on the dirt though.

He's a lucky that no one got hurt. When he flies in air, he has no control over who is crossing the road ahead. Next time he hurts someone, this video would serve as an evidence of his recklessness. I understand controlled stunts in controlled environment. But you simply cannot do that on public roadways without make sure that public is safe.

Exactly what permits are for. One can only hope they had the streets of traffic closed down (but doubtful) before he was jumping mid air crossing lanes.

Those numerous charges are going to carry some hefty fines, license revocation, and hard to find insurance carriers.

It is weird since they are so close to Mexico and all the desert one can handle in southern CA one could ever want.
