From everyone’s posts regarding their previous gmcs, it sounds like I lucked out with a tundra being my first pick... guess I’ll never have to really wonder what I missed out on

Same here. I got several quotes on Silverados before buying Tundra. Thankfully none were enticing enough to get me to buy a GM product. I had already ruled out the other 2. A year after buying Tundra I was still getting emails from one GM dealer. I had fun telling them all that I bought a Tundra.

Welcome aboard. I too once upon a moon had my final straw with GM, a 2014 Sierra Denali. The truck was in the shop for a total of 4 weeks with varying issues. Two major...one was a collapsed lifter at roughly 5K miles which they did fix and the other was the dreaded chevy shake that plagues quit a large portion of their last model truck. Never did fix that one and when they couldn't make it better they told me "operating as designed" all vibes are in spec and considered normal in this truck. Never again!

Yes that was an issue I had with the 8speed...there is a problem with the TQ Converters that they wont admit too (i wouldn't want to recall 200000 trucks either), complained every oil change and got the "its an 8speed, its normal" BS....finally it got so bad they couldn't ignore it. The fix as of 12/2018, flush with 30 quarts of a new completely changed transmission fluid with new specs, ....a brand new fluid GM developed to camouflage the issue long enough to get the customer out of warranty. Put another 2000 moles on it and the roof started leaking (no sunroof)....followed by a check engine light, and I threw in the towel and took my loss.

Did i mention the Driver seat coming loose every 2000 miles? Or the stupendous amount of slack in the driveline? I had gotten used to it until I put 100 miles on the Tundra...so much tigher. I did like the intuitive GM Infotainment System though...

That's the crazy thing about GM trucks.. they have had sloppy drivelines since my first gm truck back 96. You just get used to how you have to drive them, at low speeds especially. These Tundras are so mechanically tight it's night and day.

My 14 Sierra had similar issues. Leaking roof big time. Vibrated over 65 mph. Countless recalls. Biggest hunk of chunk ever.

I wonder if there is a thread about old Toyota Tundra owners who got sick of their tundras and traded it in for their gm...

Naw, they are too busy writing threads about shuddering 8 speed transmissions...
