9 years of beer farts trapped in there. It's like a time capsule for your rectum.

Spent 30 min vacuuming it. See the owners manual says to use air compressor to blow it out. I have a few holes in it so I’m going to order a new one today.

The fact that you actually spent 30 minutes trying to salvage that dirt sponge made me laugh at my desk. Throw that thing in the trash man.

    Yikes!

I will have to look on my firewall to see where the inlet is for the cabin. I cannot believe that leaves are able to get in there. If easy enough, I may try to fab a screen cover for the inlet point.

Well you never went to the dealer because they would have been trying to sell you one first time.

Actually I have had every oil change since new preformed at my toyota dealership. And they never once told me I needed a cabin filter! Yeah kind of a letdown.

Wow. My dealer comes to me every time with the air filter and cabin filter and explain why it is absolutely essential that I replace it immediately for the low price of $49.99 or else I die on my way home from the fecal matter trapped in the cabin filter.......

I’ve found they’ll sell you stuff you don’t need and not do stuff you really need so don’t feel bad. 1st Gens don't have cabin filters. My A/C coils looked like your filter after 17 years.

Good job cleaning it up and ordering new.

I don't know what is the biggest WOW factor for me - the filter or the fact that you have 51k miles on a 9-year old truck. I do almost that in one year.

Some of the techs aren't that smart though. My dealer tried to tell me that the 4.6 models don't come with an alarm system.

Haha, so true!!!! Every time they want to change it for $69. Sit in the waiting room and some young service advisor will come out and tell almost every single customer that the mechanic said it was really dirty and needs to be changed. You can tell what the flavor of the month is! $8 filter and takes about 4 minutes to change.

Toyota dealers are not as bad as others though.....

I bought a 2008 Rav4 two years ago that had 134,000 miles on it. Pulled the cabin air filter and it looked just like the OP's. It was the Mama Toyota factory filter. UnF'Nbelievable.
