There is a thread like this on Tacoma World that is fairly popular so I figured I'd start one here. I'll start...

I have a lot of driving pet peeves, and it is hard to choose my biggest one, but here are some of them:

    1. People who text and drive!

    2. People who get mad at you for beeping at them, when you were beeping at them because they were doing something wrong or to avoid an accident!

    3. People who slow way the hell down when making a right turn from a busy road.

    4. People who hold up an entire street to ask for directions or parallel park.

    5. People who think you did something wrong and try to "teach you a lesson."

    6. People who drive drunk even though we have a dandy little app called Uber.

    7. As much as I hate drunk drivers, I also cannot stand DUI checkpoints. I firmly believe that they are unconstitutional, and a waste of both my time and taxpayer money.

    8. Tailgaters!

People who dont use their left and right blinkers

    Sympathy brakers

    Slinky drivers

People who try to use me as a rabbit while driving on an empty highway.

    Edited for spelling

How about drunk Mercedes drivers who run stop signs and do this to your mint condition Tacoma?

I strongly disagree with #7. Have you ever worked the line? You know, where you’re standing and almost hit? I’m glad he ran into us, and not an innocent family.

People who can’t multi task as well as me (texting and driving), people who beep at you when you did nothing wrong, people who refuse to slow down behind you when you’re about to make a turn, people who don’t appreciate how freighting it is to parallel park, people who think buzzed driving is drunk driving, and people who don’t understand how to move out of my way when I place my front bumper on your rear bumper while traveling at high rates of speed :)

I don't drive drunk, and I will do everything in my power to avoid DUI checkpoints. Even my uncle who is a police lieutenant in New Jersey with about 26 years on the force thinks that DUI checkpoints are unconstitutional.

You will not convince me to be in favor of DUI checkpoints. I've encountered one, while driving home from work (I work at a bar) on Saint Patrick's Day in 2017. A 12-minute drive home turned into a 40-minute drive home, all so a cop could shine a flashlight into my cab and ask me if I'd been drinking.

Yep..Check points, among other things, actually can be a wake up call! Driving is not a right...it's a privilege and in every state there is implied consent. It's good to know this Charlie. Lots of great LEO's here that could/should chime in so we all know how it is!

In all honesty the folks who stop at green lights to let people turn in front of them. Those who block the right lane when they are going straight at an intersection. Those who drive under the speed limit, in the center lanes. Those who love to drive in other peoples blind spots. Anyone in a dodge truck. People who drive with their blinkers on for miles. People who refuse to yield to motorcycles. And for the love of all things great, would someone please get rid of those “smart cars”. They’ve done nothing wrong but I just can’t stand them!

I hate people in the left turn lane and they have to move over to the right lane a little to do the left turn. Does not make any sense and could cause an accident with person in that lane.
    Love yours. D

This incident really reduced my faith in humanity...

It was October 2015. I had taken a second job delivering pizzas to make extra money. It was 9pm and I had just gotten off work. I was driving to my primary job (at a bar just around the corner) to say hello to coworkers and use the bathroom (the bathroom at the pizza place was in use and I didn't feel like waiting). I came to a three-way intersection, and stopped at the stop sign. I was on a one-way street, turning left onto a 2-way street. There was a silver or beige 2002 Mercedes E320 sitting at the stop sign to my left. As I made the left turn, the Mercedes suddenly accelerated and grazed my Tacoma on the left rear corner (as seen above). The driver of the Mercedes was a 70-year old man, who immediately tried to accuse me of running a stop sign after I cussed him out. He called the cops, who took both of ours stories and then promptly arrested him for DUI.

Sir Drinks-A-Lot then told his insurance company that I ran the stop sign, and despite the fact that he'd just gotten his second DUI, they believed him. My insurance company ended up eating the cost of fixing my Tacoma ($2,200; They waived the deductible and did not raise my rates; USAA is awesome)!

    It gets better...

Sir Drinks-A-Lot's case didn't go to trial until May 2016. The prosecutor called me to get my statement as evidence against the guy, and that's where I found out that not only was this old fart a repeat offender, but he'd actually KILLED someone while driving drunk. Unfortunately, this was back in 1980s, and he didn't get an enhanced punishment for driving drunk the second time. The old man lost his license for a year (he was from Florida and thus had a Florida license; Florida and Pennsylvania have reciprocity?) and served 40 days in jail, to be served on weekends. Luckily, this story has a happy ending. He hired one of the best lawyers in the area to represent him. Unbeknownst to him, this particular lawyer owned the bar/music venue where I was employed as a barback. Even the lawyer didn't realize this until I told him about it. I had told the lawyer about accident back in October 2015, before my insurance company took over, because I was thinking of suing the old man for repairing my truck and the cost of renting another pickup truck while mine was in the body shop. The lawyer got me some restitution money, which I used to buy a new touch-screen head unit, a backup camera, and a dashcam for my Tacoma. Karma's a bitch!

I'm glad a drunk driver almost ripped my back bumper off instead of hitting an innocent family, but I think that DUI checkpoints are unconstitutional and an invasion of privacy. I have no problem with the police officers running the checkpoints, as they are just doing their jobs and keeping us safe. I just believe there are better ways to stop drunk drivers. Bottlenecking an entire stretch of a major road in both directions and stopping every single vehicle is not the answer!

    I don't brake check anymore...

I've had a guy attempt to get into a "bro-off" with me because I brake-checked him, some bearded redhead in a Nissan Altima.

It's been over two years, and that head unit has long since been replaced due to it being a lemon. Hold on though...
